ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

The WFP South Sudan (SSD) TEC Unit is undergoing changes as a result of the corporate TEC strategy that promotes innovation and digital transformation as the main pillars to reach the organizational objectives and concur to the SDGs and involved in projects and programmes to modernize and optimize the infrastructure and the applications.

Under the direct supervision of the Head of the TEC Unit of WFP SSD, the incumbent will be engaged in coordinating activities within the TEC teams, WFP SSD business units and other partners for the implementation of “WFP SSD Intranet Revamp” Project. S(he) will coordinate the support to be given to users from the adoption phase to the continuous service improvement of the final products. The incumbent will also be involved in initiatives aiming at improving workflows, trainings and support models and will manage all relations with business units of WFP SSD as the main interface for the implementation of the Project.

JOB PURPOSE

To provide technical expertise in the development of efficient and innovative integrated IT solutions meeting WFP’s business needs and standards.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

  • Along with the Software Development Team, engage in development of the new WFP SSD portal, incorporating an updating user interface (UI) elements, patterns, and components required by WFP’s IT Solutions, and ensuring easy-to-use documentation and guidance is provided to the Product Manager (PM), interface designers, and front-end Developers
  • Ensure the final product is in line with users’ expectations, the interfaces of applications hosted in the portal are compliant with corporate guidelines and regulations (specifically: WFP Branding Kit and WFP UI Kit), branding requirements, applications’ features and functionalities are corresponding to the business and users’ needs; overall outlook of the portal and individual applications; software versions and versions control; cross-board unification of the links, menus, buttons, and other elements of portal’s web pages, etc.
  • Interact with WFP’s SSD TEC PM, interface design and front-end development personnel to stay-in-touch with the user interface and design requirements of existing and emerging IT applications and solutions hosed on WFP SSD intranet, including the new portal site itself
  • Oversee and coordinate user experience (UX) activities across a portfolio of IT solutions already available or under development in WFP SSD, ensuring that interface designers and front-end developers adhere to the guidelines outlined in WFP’s Design System, and to UX best practices to ensure a high level of usability and accessibility of IT solutions
  • Train / mentor other identified developers of WFP SSD TEC in terms of UX/UI
  • Other related duties, as required.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Advanced University degree in interaction design, interface design, human-computer interaction, psychology, anthropology, computer science, multimedia, business administration or related fields.
Language: International Professional: Fluency (level C) in English language
Experience: At least 3 years of proven practical hands-on experience on various projects and knowledge in supporting and maintaining production applications and enterprise IT services in WFP and/or other humanitarian organisations

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Proficiency designing high-quality user experience and user interface elements, adhering to corporate branding standards
  • Proficiency in writing UX guidance and documentation
  • In-depth knowledge of UX/UI design (wireframes, mock-ups, prototypes) and related tools
  • In depth knowledge of usability and interaction design principles and best practices; and
  • Knowledge of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).

  • The final product (new intranet portal and all hosted applications) is compliant with corporate UX/UI guidelines and regulations, branding requirements, applications’ features and functionalities are corresponding to the business and users’ needs
  • Unification of the overall outlook of the portal and individual applications
  • Software versions and versions control are done and recorded in accordance with existing regulations
  • Up-to-date documentation fully adhering to WFP’s Brand and with Product Manager, designer, and developer-friendly.
  • Interface components which are usable and accessible.
