JOB TITLE: Videographer (3 positions) and Photographer (3 positions)

 

TYPE OF CONTRACT: Short Term 

 

UNIT/DIVISION: Communications, Advocacy, Marketing (CAM)

 

DUTY STATION (City, Country):  RBN (Regional Bureau for East Africa)

 

DURATION: Three months 

 

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:

 

The World Food Programme (WFP) has significant plans for growth in brand awareness and broader supporter engagement, as well as an ambitious private sector fundraising strategy to grow engagement and income from individuals. Powerful and engaging story content, captured and distributed in a timely and strategic way, is critical to achieving this ambition.

The consultant will report directly to the Regional Communications Officer based in Nairobi and will travel to the field and capture video and photos to brief, schedule and budget, and deliver final multimedia content as requested.
 

ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Final deliverables for each trip will be defined through the year with specific briefs prior to deployment. Responsibilities will likely include:

 

  • Traveling to the field to interview beneficiaries and staff, profiling in footage/ photo interviewees and programmatic work, to highlight the overall work of WFP.
  • Delivering footage (either full rushes or bespoke b-roll packages) + detailed video logs to RBN via established upload/ distribution channels.
  • On request, deliver photos with full captions and meta data via upload/ distribution channels specified.
  • Storyboard, script, develop and edit a variety of final video products to brief and tight schedule, to engage target audiences with the work of WFP.
  • Work within the agreed content ingestion protocols and postproduction workflows of the WFP Digital Asset Management (DAM) system, and independently upload all video products to the system as required;
  • Support with other film projects as requested and briefed through the year.

 

DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT:

 

By the end of the assignment the Videographer - Photographer will have developed:

  • To brief, delivered video and photo packages from all content trips, with full video/photo logs and captions/ metadata in imagery. Content should be processed and delivered to meet timeframes as specified in each individual brief;
  • As required, deliver edited video products to meet specific requests of RBN, and timescales required to hit content deadlines. This will be specified in each individual brief.
 

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

 

Experience: At least five years of relevant professional experience with photography, filming, video editing and post-production of fundraising and brand products for INGOs, and UN Agencies.

Knowledge & Skills: 

 

  • Extensive experience of creating powerful and effective photo and video content for marketing/ fundraising/ brand campaigns in an INGO.
  • Extensive experience editing and producing video products using Premier Pro/ Avid and other editing software.
  • Proven track record of working to create fundraising and/ or awareness videos in a humanitarian and/ or development context.
  • Demonstrable experience of managing advanced FX and other animation projects for creation of film products.
  • Ability to explain and translate to film complicated concepts across a range of cultures and geographies to a diverse audience.
  • Ability to work with WFP teams, and other freelances to deliver on brief.
  • Proactive and highly organized, with strong time management and planning skills.
  • Able to meet tight deadlines and remain calm under pressure. 

 

Languages: Excellent written and oral knowledge of English. French, Spanish or Arabic highly desirable.
