UNOPS Jerusalem office is seeking  a Driver security guard on an intermittent basis upon need.  


Under the guidance and supervision of the  Administration Senior Assistant, the Driver/Security Guard provides reliable and safe driving services for the transport of authorized personnel. He/she will also provide patrols and attend to the ir-regular shifts as requested by the supervisor.  He/She has a client-oriented approach, high sense of responsibility, courtesy, tact and the ability to work with people of different national and cultural backgrounds. 

Functional Responsibilities

Driving responsibilities

  1. Ensures provision of reliable and safe driving services by a) driving office vehicles for the transport of high-ranking officials and visitors and delivery and collection of mail, documents and other items, and b) meeting official personnel and visitors at the airport including visa and customs formalities arrangement when required;

  • The office driver provides occasional driving services support to the UNOPS operations and program.

  • Keeps abreast of traffic and road and security and safety awareness to enable safe and on time arrival for meetings;

  1. Ensures cost-savings through proper use of vehicle through accurate maintenance of daily vehicle logs, provision of inputs to preparation of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports;

  1. Ensures proper day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle through timely minor repairs, arrangements for major repairs, timely changes of oil, check of tires, brakes and water levels, car washing, etc so that the vehicle is kept clean and in good running condition at all times;

  2. Ensures cost-savings through proper use of vehicle and accurate and check for vehicle maintenance and assistance in preparing vehicle reports; (provision of inputs to preparation of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports)

  3. Ensures availability of all the required documents/supplies including vehicle insurance, vehicle registration, vehicle logs, office directory, map of the city/country, first aid kit, necessary spare parts in the vehicle;

  4. Assists office staff in events, logistical arrangements, filing, photocopying and maintaining stores when required. 

  5. When necessary, translates in local language for the official personnel using the car; 

  6. Ensures that all immediate actions required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in accidents

  7. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.



Security responsibilities


  1. Ensure all UNOPS security arrangements are in place:

  • Implement UNOPS proper access procedures, pass and ID system;

  • Deny access to any one carrying a weapon;

  • Search visitors personal bags and physical search if needed; 

  •  Implement proper vehicle search at the vehicle entrance;

  • Regular patrolling all around the building;

  • Ensure proper registry at the daily handover book; 

  • Ensure proper registry of UN car movements;

  • Assist in the evacuation drill exercise conducted twice a year with all specified tasks for the guards;

  • Maintenance of UNOPS premises and assets;


  1. Ensure all security arrangements are in place in case of emergency:

  • Ensure VHF radio office base functional and implement radio check with DSS;

  • Assist in updating personnel and dependant’s lists if requested;

  • Maintain direct contact with supervisor to inform about any related security incident or information;

  1. Provide assistance to all UN staff and visitors to the UNOPS building:

  • Deal in a respectful way, with all staff and visitors;

  • Assist other agencies in the premises with their visitor movement needs; 

  1. Assist  supervisor  in all related security requirements when requested:

  • Be prepared to work in shifts and double shifts, including weekend and night shifts, if required

  • Assist supervisor in administrative related tasks if requested.

  • Perform any other tasks and duties as requested by the supervisor.

4. Final Product

  • Security and safety of all personnel, visitors and UNOPS premises in Jerusalem.

  • Ensuring vehicles are serviceable, functioning and available for tasking,

  • Ensuring all required administration including vehicle logs, maintenance schedules etc are completed and current; and

  • Ensuring vehicle movement is completed in a safe and timely manner.

Education/Experience/Language requirements

Education 

  • Completion of secondary school or equivalent is required.

  • Diploma or certification in administration-related subjects or business administration would be an asset.

B. Work Experience 

    • 2 years of driving experience is required at the national level

    • knowledge of driving rules and regulations and skills in minor vehicle repair is required

    • Work experience with EU or UN or other international organization is an asset

    • Experience in computer/office productivity software will be an asset

    • A valid Israeli driver's license is required.

    • C1 Category of driving license will be an asset

    • Driving record will be requested upon selection before contract issuance

C. Language:

  • Full working knowledge of Arabic language is required, working knowledge of English & Hebrew is an asset.
