Context

Climate change affects and is a cross-cutting issue for all people, Member States, academia, environmental agencies, civil-society organizations, private sector, and UN agencies. To enable discussions and actions to address climate change, it is important to build people’s science-based knowledge on climate science. With this goal, ten UN agencies (UNESCO, ILO, IOM, UNDP, UNDRR, UNEP, UN ESCAP, UNFCCC, UNICEF, UNOSSC) are engaged in a working group under the UN Issue Based Coalition (IBC) on Raising Ambitions on Climate Actions in Asia and the Pacific. Jointly the ten UN agencies produced a series of ‘Climate Science Education Materials’ including 28 posters, 25 social media graphics, and 3 short videos. All climate science education products can be accessed at the UNESCO Bangkok website (https://bangkok.unesco.org/content/climate-science-literacy-asia-pacific). To have greater impact at the local level including by enhancing knowledge and inspiring climate action, the climate science knowledge products are being translated into local languages.
