Special Projects Manager - Afghan P-2 Program

Overview

The P-2 Support & Special Projects Manager is responsible for ongoing work related to the IRC’s Afghan P-2 Program support effort, as well as supporting workforce analytics and other projects in the HR Operations Team. Success in this role requires high attention to detail and the ability to work independently.

The IRC prepared and submitted about 2,000 Afghan P-2 Program referrals to the U.S. Government between August 2021 and December 2022. The P-2 Support & Special Projects Manager will be responsible for ongoing correspondence with the U.S. Government in relation to the IRC referrals as well as correspondence with applicants who have questions. When not focused on P-2 work, this role will collaborate with the HR Operations Team on a variety of workforce analytics and HR systems-related projects.   

Responsibilities 

Project Management

·       Maintain detailed workplans to track inquiries, issues and responses related to IRC P-2 referrals.

·       Maintain P-2 records in Box and Zendesk.  

·       Prepare and submit additional P-2 referrals as needed, following a detailed process that will be provided.

·       Coordinate with Afghanistan and Resettlement colleagues as needed to confirm applicant employment details and respond to applicant and government queries.

·       Prepare and provide occasional updates to leadership related to the Afghan P-2 referral program.

Communications

·       Correspond with P-2 applicants and others who email the IRC’s primary P-2 email account; assess individual case and determine appropriate response

·       Independently correspond with U.S. Government focal points as needed to answer questions related to P-2 referrals submitted by the IRC.

·       Liaise with the P-2 focal point in IRC Afghanistan to provide key updates to all Afghanistan staff and respond to staff queries about the P-2 program.

Special Projects

·       Manage and collaborate on workforce analytics projects as a part of the IRC HR Operations team.

·       Seek and recommend opportunities for improvement to People systems and processes.

Requirements 

·     2 – 3 years of related professional experience; HR or legal experience preferred 

·     Strong attention to detail and excellent judgment 

·     Ability to work quickly and respond to urgent issues in a timely manner 

·     Strong analytic problem-solving skills  

·     Exceptional discretion and understanding of the need for confidentiality

Work Environment: Standard office work environment. Also open to remote work.

Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget.  Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
