Org. Setting and Reporting

The incumbent reports to the Assistant Operations Officer, G 13.

Responsibilities

In accordance with established policy and procedures, the incumbent:
(A) Is responsible, in cooperation with Protection and Neutrality staff, for maintaining continuity of communications with UNRWA staff in the West Bank, information on movement of staff, security incidents, access constraints and threats
(B) Oversees and operates the available radio and communication systems and telephone lines ensuring that incoming and outgoing messages are properly and promptly registered and incoming and transmitted as required;
(C) Ensures that standard operating procedures and instructions from the Field Office for informing staff members in the field are followed up promptly and accurately;
(D) Ensures that computerized logs of staff movements and incidents across the Field are properly maintained; reports on the occurring access problems and follows up with ACU who liaise with the local authorities;
(E) Ensures that records and lists of essential telephone numbers and contact information are properly updated, maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information;
(F) Maintains contact with the UNDSS Communications Room in the West Bank, liaising on regular intervals;
(G) Performs other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

* Conditions of service
-Type of Contract: Fixed Term Appointment
- Duration of Contract: 3 years including 1 year probation period, with the possibility of
further extension, subject to the availability of funds, satisfactory performance and continuing
need.

Monthly basic salary USD1,259.40, payable in JD at UN monthly exchange rate, plus an allowance of 1000 NIS payable in JD at UNRWA rate.

• Provident Fund contribution (15.2% of basic salary paid by the Agency).

• 30 days of annual leave.

* Other Information
• The incumbent might be required to work beyond regular working hours, including night, afternoon and weekend shifts.

** DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

• Good knowledge of the Field geography.
