Organizational Context

Under the general direction and guidance of the Corporate Services Manager, provide timely and high-quality IT technical support to staff members. The post holder will also play a big role in supporting the teams in the operation with their IT requirements.

Job Purpose

End User Support

  • Provide day to day end user support on general computer applications and IT systems in the operational Office.
  • Provide user training on procedures, and/or train users in the proper use of IFRC hardware and software.
  • Set up equipment for staff use, performing or ensuring proper installation of printers, operating systems, and appropriate software and running software updates.
  • Consult with systems users to establish requirements and forward same to the IT manager.

Technical Support

  • Install and perform minor repairs to hardware, software, and peripheral equipment, following design or installation specifications.
  • Provide end user support and resolution of technical issues on to users.
  • Install, operate and maintain network equipment including routers, hubs, switches, modems and any other network devices.
  • Install and configure local area data communications networks which may carry data, voice and video communications following IFRC IT standards.
  • Monitor the office network connection on a daily basis to ensure network stability.
  • Provide preventive and corrective maintenance of desktop, laptops computer, scanners, projectors and network equipment.
  • Provide support to the HF and VHF radio network.

IT Administration

  • Oversee the daily performance of computer systems (Desktop, Laptops) in the operational Office.
  • Maintain and log IT issues using the online ServiceDesk IT tool for daily support requests, the issues raised and remedial action taken.
  • Refer major hardware or software problems or defective products to vendors or warranty centres
  • Establish a routine maintenance schedule for all IT equipment in the Kyiv office.

IT Asset Management

  • Maintain an asset register for all IT equipment including hardware, software, telecommunication and network equipment.
  • Track and control allocation of IT equipment to staff in the office.
  • Ensure that all contracts, service level agreement, job cards and any other IT documentation are filled and kept on the IT filing system.

Job Duties and Responsibilities (continued)

  • Diploma/Degree in Information Technology or related qualification (Required)
  • Certification on computer training (MCSE, CCNA) (Preferred)

Education

  • 2 years minimum of work in computer systems (LAN, WAN TCP/IP connectivity, E-mail, application and user support domains) (Required)
  • 1 year minimum of work in radio communication technologies (VHF, HF) and satellites (VSAT) (Required)
  • Work experience with other international organisations, large NGOs and/or governmental development agencies (Required)
  • Experience of project management within Information Technology (Required)

Experience

  • Ability to lead and manage in a diverse cultural context (Required)
  • Strong knowledge of information sharing tools, and the ability to implement them (Required)
  • Highly organized, with ability to create unified team approach (Required)
  • Excellent skills in wireless technologies, including HF and VHF radio (Required)
