Across 190 countries and territories, we work for every child, everywhere, every day, to build a better world for everyone.

And we never give up.

For every child, results

The UNICEF Junior Professional Officer Programme (JPO), established in 1968, offers young professionals interested in pursuing a career in development an exceptional opportunity to acquire hands-on experience in multilateral technical cooperation.

UNICEF currently has agreements with 21 countries, including:  Austria, Belgium, Canada, China, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, UAE, USA and Qatar. UNICEF, together with the respective donor governments, conducts a rigorous and competitive recruitment process at the P-2 level before the final selection of each Junior Professional Officer.  UNICEF is also currently advocating for the participation from other governments to expand its pool of candidates and promote further cultural diversity within the organization.

The JPO Programme offers a structured career development portfolio, including coaching, mentoring and career counselling, as well as the newly introduced career transition programme. One of the key components to welcome the newly onboarded JPOs is the annual Orientation, with a set of interesting and engaging topics covered by UNICEF colleagues across the world. The Orientation is organized once a year with around 30 participants and about 10 speakers during five days.

  • Follow up on their availability
  • Prepare introduction of the speakers.
  • Brainstorm with speakers on the most suitable format to present and structure the sessions.
  • Support the set-up and preparation of presentation materials according to the needs of speakers prior to the orientation.
