Your mission

​This project aims to enable all relevant Afghan stakeholders to establish a sustainable and resilient peace process by strengthening their individual and collective capacity to design and implement nonviolent conflict transformation as a self-owned and self-led process. 
Together with the team, the new Junior Project Manager will focus on supporting Afghan stakeholders in laying the groundwork for structural peace through dialogues and the establishment of infrastructures for peace.
 
Overview of the position:
Hours: Full-time (40 hrs per week)
 Starting date: as soon as possible
Duration: limited contract for 12 months, with the possibility of extension
Location: Berlin, Germany
Unit & reporting line: Afghanistan, Head of Unit Afghanistan
 
 
Your main tasks:

  • You contribute to organizing, coordinating, and implementing project activities in close collaboration with the project team and Afghan partners
  • You contribute to the development of concept notes and project applications
  • You conduct background research and provide the team with abstracts about conflict topics when needed
  • You are involved in the content-related preparation of event materials (e.g. preparation of PPT, handbooks)
  • You contribute to donor reporting ensuring internal & external guidelines are met
  • You take part in the communication towards project partners/stakeholders/participants
  • You co-decide on project expenditures within project frameworks

 

Your knowledge, experience & skills
  • You hold a Master degree within a relevant field such as Peace and Conflict Studies, Political Science, International Relations or similar
  • You have ideally gained first relevant working experience, especially in event organisation, budget management, coordination tasks, etc.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English is essential, German language skills would be an asset
  • Strong intercultural and interpersonal communication skills and ability to work with unconventional and demanding conflict actors from across the political spectrum including high-level individuals;
  • Willingness to travel to the project country and other destinations as required
  • Curiosity, empathy, passion, commitment and perseverance

The full-time position (40 hrs/week) will be based in Berlin, Germany for a period of 12 months (extendable), starting as soon as possible.
