Secours Islamique France (SIF) is a Non-Governmental Organization of international solidarity based in France. Founded in 1991, SIF is a non-profit and non-political organization that intends to help, to bring relief and to protect the lives of those threatened by natural disasters, armed conflicts or by economic collapse. SIF provides its help in respect of the cultural diversity, without any distinction of origin, religion or gender.

Secours Islamique France is looking for a Logistics Coordinator based in Damascus, Syria.

Context

Involved in Syria since 2008, SIF has been working alongside UNHCR to bring equitable access to the basic services such as water accessibility, hygiene and sanitations to the displaced and affected populations in Syria. In a joint venture with UNICEF, SIF was able to create 5 centers in which unscholled children got education and diverse activities. Thanks to SIF's capacity building programme, 770 Teachers and more are now able to better protect vulnerable children against abuse, violence or even child labor.

Under the supervision of the Head of Mission, as part of the Coordination Team and while supervising the Logistics team, you will be in charge of coordinating, planning and guaranteeing the follow-up on logistic activities of th 5 the bases of the mission as well as contributing to the elaboration of the mission's operational strategy.

Your main responsabilities are the following (evolving and non exhaustive list) :

  • Supervise and provide a logistical support to the different SIF bases and projects
  • Ensure existence of individual up-to-date safety and security plans for each location and for the overall presence of SIF in Countries & Region with HQ
  • Contribute to the elaboration of the mission’s operational strategy
  • Ensure proper warehousing, stock management, and control systems, including documentation and reporting;
  • Manage the administrative team: briefing, planning, management, follow up etc..;

Profil

  • Master's level qualification or similar academic achievement specialised in Logistics
  • Minimum 5 years experience in senior management roles, with some project managemement capacity, a security management and emergency situation experience.
  • Significant experience within an international NGO preferably focus on emergency and early recovery project
  • Fluent in spoken and written English
  • Experience of strategic thinking, including identifying, analyzing, problem solving and responding to opportunities and challenges
  • Ability to understand the cultural and political environment and to work well with local authorities.

Conditions

  • Starting date : As soon as possible.
  • French fixed term contract : 6 months.
  • Remuneration according to our salary grid.
  • Monthly perdiem/guesthouse
  • Health insurance (SIF contributes to 70% of the insurance).
  • Rapatriation insurance (100% covered by SIF)
  • R&R to your homecountry covered by SIF after 6 months of mission.
  • Leaves every 3 months
