The Role

At Last Mile Health, we are all stewards of our reputation and our resources. Do you have demonstrated experience in accounting and financial management? If so you might be the right candidate to join our Finance team as a Finance Coordinator at the Last Mile Health (LMH) Ethiopia Office. 

Reporting to the Finance Manager of Last Mile Health (LMH) Ethiopia Office, the Finance Coordinator provides accounting and financial management service support to the country program.  The Financial Coordinator will be working closely with the country team in processing travel expenses, training related costs, taxes, vendor payments and organizing documentations and liaising with external entities such as vendors, banks, Ministry of Revenue. Finance Coordinator is responsible for preparing and maintaining financial records, accounting and finance related activities.

This position is only open to candidates who are located in and authorized to work in Ethiopia.

What You'll Do

  • Collect, compile and process staff travel cost reimbursement, travel and operational advance requests and settlements.
  • Ensure review and approval of travel costs, advances and reimbursement documents before payments are processed.
  • Prepare vendor payments, ensure completeness of supporting documents and withholding of appropriate taxes.
  • Issue withholding tax receipts for taxes withheld 
  • Ensure proper budget and general ledger (GL) codes are used for all payments and collections processed
  • Record transactions to NetSuite Financial software after documentation and approval is completed
  • Conduct a pre-audit of financial documents every four months.
  • Handle bank processes including preparing transfer letters, facilitating interbank transfers, collecting bank transfer advice/slips.
  • Collect deposit advice from bank for all incoming funds to LMH accounts, issue receipt vouchers and properly maintain documentation
  • Prepare monthly tax and pension, and withholding tax payment documents, complete online tax payment forms and other related documents.
  • Prepare transfer letters for tax payments, collect payment advice from the bank and receipts from the Ministry of Revenue for tax payments.
  • Manage LMH petty cash: Prepare petty cash voucher, ensure approval of petty cash vouchers and payment requests, prepare petty cash ledger, ensure time petty cash replenishment.
  • Maintaining accurate financial documents for all payments and receipts
  • Ensure that documents are sequentially filed for ease of access, future reference and maintained in safe places
  • Maintain scanned copies of all financial documents in Google Drive shared folders
  • Provide financial documents for annual audit
  • Conduct pre-audit of financial documents every four months
  • Work with Finance Manager during annual audit process
  • Collaborate and  work with program team and Continuous Professional Development ( CPD) centers during delivery of trainings in the field, follow up fund transfers and collect training reports

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as Accounting and Finance, Management, etc.
  • Experience working with budgeting, cash management, financial reporting, internal controls, grant management, procurement and supply management etc.
  • Experience with project management, and a high level of initiative
  • Relevant years of experience working on financial management in NGO settings
  • Willingness and ability to travel to program implementation areas of Ethiopia for providing field support
  • Fluency in English and Amharic

You'll Impress Us If

  • You have knowledge and experience of financial management softwares such as NetSuite, QuickBooks, Peachtree, SunSystems etc.
  • You have experience in managing donor funded project finances 
  • You have audit experience
  • You have verbal and written communication for understanding project requirements and explaining these needs to employees and third-party providers
  • You have the ability to prioritize and manage time to ensure tasks are completed on time
  • You have the ability to support project communication across different stakeholders
