The Role

At Last Mile Health, we are all stewards of our reputation and resources. Do you have demonstrated experience in coordinating and supporting blended learning approaches? If so, you might be the right candidate to join the Programs team at the Last Mile Health (LMH) Ethiopia Office as the Project Coordinator, Immunization.  

Reporting to the Technical Advisor, the Project Coordinator (PC) will play a critical role in coordinating and technically supporting the blended learning approach focusing on Immunization and Nutrition. The project coordinator liaises with the Ministry of Health and Regional Health Bureaus to coordinate organization of blended learning in the districts selected for this project. The project coordinator ensures the quality of blended learning to build knowledge and skills of HEWs on immunization and nutrition with an objective of improving  reach and quality of health services at the community level. 

Specifically, The Project Coordinator will provide technical support to regional and district professionals on increasing knowledge and skills of HEWs to address zero dose, missed opportunities for immunization, catchup immunization and integration of immunization with other services including nutrition.  

This position is only open to candidates who are located in and authorized to work in Ethiopia. 

Project Details:

  • Commitment – 6 months (renewable) 
  • Start date - February, 2023
  • Location – Amhara, Oromia, SNNP, South West and Somali Regions in Ethiopia

What You'll Do

 

  • Facilitate and technically support the development of instructional design and learning materials on immunization
  • Provide technical support in the adaptation, localization, and digitalization of  the blended learning approach 
  • Provide technical support for the development of multimedia education materials on immunization focusing on zero dose, missed opportunities and catch up immunization. 
  • Provide technical support to regional and woreda stakeholders throughout the implementation of the blended learning approach for Immunization and Nutrition project
  • Plan and execute blended trainings on Immunization and Nutrition for health extension workers, health extension workers supervisor and other professionals 
  • Plan and execute assessments of knowledge and skills of HEWs and other professionals on Immunization pre and post training
  • Jointly with MERL team, Provide technical support in the monitoring, evaluation, and knowledge management of the blended learning approach for Immunization and Nutrition
  • Compile knowledge and skills assessment results of learners and share to HEWs supervisors to use training data for follow up supervision 
  • Build and sustain close working partnership with MoH, its counterparts and other stakeholders through active sharing of information and active participation in technical working groups

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree with experience in the field of public health. Masters in Public Health or any related field will be an advantage.
  • Relevant years of professional experience in one or more of the work areas highlighted in the job summary 
  • Demonstrated experience working within the national and/or sub-national health system (community health workers program a plus); familiarity with government structures and processes
  • Demonstrated experience working in immunization programs
  • Familiarity with the Community Health Information System and DHIS2
  • Ability to diplomatically navigate complex stakeholder dynamics, proactively problem solve and achieve results and consensus with multiple influencers 
  • Demonstrated experience in partner engagement and project management  
  • Comfortable working in teams as well as acting independently in the implementation of specific tasks, prioritizing, working under pressure and meeting deadlines 
  • Robust knowledge management skills, including the advanced use of MS Office applications and Google Suite

You’ll Impress Us If

  • You have digital health program design or implementation experience       
  • You have experience in the facilitation of trainings/capacity strengthening for adult learners
  • You have knowledge of existing data being tracked in DHIS2, specifically community health data
  • You have experience implementing an advocacy agenda with national and subnational government stakeholders
