The Role

At Last Mile Health, we are all stewards of our reputation and resources. Do you have demonstrated experience in coordinating and supporting blended learning approaches? If so, you might be the right candidate to join the Programs team at the Last Mile Health (LMH) Ethiopia Office as the Project Coordinator, Nutrition.  

Reporting to the Senior Program Manager, the Project Coordinator (PC) will play a critical role in coordinating and technically supporting the blended learning approach on Nutrition focusing on Growth Monitoring and Promotion (GMP) for Health Extension Workers (HEWs), HEWs supervisors and other relevant technical personnel at health facility and woreda level. 

In addition the PC plays a key role to promote multisectoral collaboration and action on GMP integration through GMP revitalization activities to be conducted at woreda and kebele level. The PC provides technical support on GMP revitalization activities including establishment of woreda and kebele level multisectoral coordination committee, use of GMP as a performance scorecard, conducting GMP revitalization workshops for woreda and zonal multisectoral participants and coordination of training delivery for kebele administrators and agricultural development workers. 

This position is only open to candidates who are located and authorized to work in Ethiopia.

What You'll Do

  • Facilitate and technically support the development of instructional design and learning materials on nutrition focusing on Growth Monitoring and Promotion(GMP) 
  • Provide technical support in the adaptation, localization, and digitalization of  the blended learning approach 
  • Provide technical support for the development of multimedia education materials on GMPh on nutrition 
  • Provide technical support to regional, district and kebele stakeholders to establish and maintain functionality of multisectoral coordination committee throughout the implementation of the project 
  • Coordinate and technically support training of frontline workers including kebele administrators and agriculture development agents on multi-sectoral collaboration and GMP integration 
  • Plan and execute blended trainings on nutrition/GMP for health extension workers and other relevant professionals 
  • Plan and execute knowledge and skills assessments of HEWs and other professionals on GMP pre and post training 
  • Provide technical support for the implementation of community education interventions on GMP
  • Organize consultative workshops, advocacy events and learning forums on GMP at district level
  • Support woreda and zonal multisectoral coordination committee to use GMP as performance scorecard 
  • Provide technical support for the revitalization and strengthening of kebele level multi-sectoral coordination team for nutrition
  • Jointly with MERL team, Provide technical support in the monitoring, evaluation, and knowledge management of the blended learning approach on nutrition/GMP 
  • Build and sustain close working partnership with MoH, its counterparts and other stakeholders through active sharing of information and active participation in technical working groups

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree with experience in the field of public health preferably Nutrition. Masters in Nutrition, Public Health, or any related field will be an advantage.
  • Relevant years of professional experience in one or more of the work areas highlighted to the job summary 
  • Demonstrated experience working within the national and/or sub-national health system (community health workers program or nutrition is a plus); familiarity with government structures and processes
  • Demonstrated experience working on nutrition programs 
  • Familiarity with the Community Health Information System and DHIS2
  • Ability to diplomatically navigate complex stakeholder dynamics, proactively problem solve, and achieve results and consensus with multiple influencers 
  • Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement and project management  
  • Comfortable working in teams as well as acting independently in the implementation of specific tasks, prioritizing, working under pressure and meeting deadlines 
  • Robust knowledge management skills, including the advanced use of MS Office applications and Google Suite
  • Willingness to be deployed in the Seqota Declaration expansion woredas of Amhara and Sidama

You’ll Impress Us If

  • You have digital health program design or implementation experience       
  • You have experience in facilitation of trainings/capacity strengthening for adult learners
  • You have knowledge of existing data being tracked in DHIS2, specifically data on nutrition and community health programs
  • You have experience implementing an advocacy agenda with national and subnational government stakeholders
  • You have experience of working in a multi-sectoral environment
