Result of Service

The ultimate results of this consultancy will be:

• A coherent package of written digital content – website, blogs, videos, emails, social media posts, infographics, case studies, and more – targeting existing and prospective stakeholders
• Increased visibility of the CCAC’s work demonstrated through improved analytics data and the engagement of CCAC partners and stakeholders

To carry out projects to completion, the Digital Content Writer will be asked to:

• Assist in developing content for a variety of digital channels, notably writing, editing, and publishing content, in close cooperation and consultation with CCAC colleagues, partner organizations, and external experts
• Leverage the CCAC's scientific research, project results, and thought leadership to provide its partners and stakeholders with relevant and timely content, and support showcasing partner results
• Effectively manage multiple strategic content projects
• Seek feedback, proofread, and amend content to incorporate comments and gain full approval from CCAC colleagues

Duties and Responsibilities

The Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) is a partnership of governments, intergovernmental organizations, and representatives of the private sector, the environmental community, and other members of civil society.

The CCAC is the only international initiative working on integrated climate and clean air solutions to reduce the rate of near-term warming. It focuses on fast action to reduce emissions of short-lived climate pollutants (SLCPs) including methane, black carbon, HFCs and tropospheric ozone.

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) hosts the Secretariat at the Economy Division in Paris.

The CCAC Secretariat is seeking a Digital Content Writer Consultant with creative storytelling skills to develop, write, edit, and publish content for the CCAC’s digital platforms, including its website, blog, videos, emails, social media posts, infographics, case studies, etc.

The Digital Content Writer Consultant will be asked to create content that shares the story, vision, and work of this partnership in a compelling and timely manner. This task will involve translating often complex scientific or political concepts into clear, straightforward messages to create an impact across many different digital platforms. Key tasks will include:

• Creating and adapting content for multiple digital channels
• Crafting messages and stories that motivate, inspire, educate, and inform the different targeted audiences
• Ensuring the CCAC’s messages are consistent across its communication channels and with its guidelines, values and mission.
• Working closely with subject matter experts to get timely information and ensure accuracy in the CCAC’s communications
• Working closely with the CCACs communication team to produce content that generates results
• Using content management and website editing skills to publish and edit content on the CCAC website
• Using knowledge of digital communication best practice, including SEO, create digital content that is easily found and showcases the CCAC's role in climate and clean air action
• Advising the team on the selection of messaging and channels to have the greatest impact towards the CCAC’s objectives

Qualifications/special skills

A university degree (Bachelor or equivalent) in journalism, mass communications or related field.
• At least 3 years of experience writing digital content about one or more of the following topics: climate change, air quality, environmental sustainability, environmental policy
• Experience with digital engagement strategies
• Expert knowledge of digital communication concepts and best practices
• A natural storyteller with a passion for simplifying complex concepts and bringing them to life
• Collaborative team player with the capacity to work with colleagues remotely
• Effective communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to present information clearly and professionally
• Strong initiative and highly organized, capable of handling multiple tasks with competing priorities under minimal supervision
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word)

Languages

• Fluency in spoken and written English is required.
• Other UN languages are an asset.
