The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) is a multilateral development bank whose mission is financing the Infrastructure for Tomorrow—infrastructure with sustainability at its core. Working with partners, AIIB meets clients’ needs by unlocking new capital and investing in infrastructure that is green, technology-enabled and promotes regional connectivity.

 

As part of the Vice Presidency, Policy and Strategy, the Operational Partnership Department (OPD) is responsible for managing and coordinating the operational partnerships between AIIB and relevant multilateral organizations, fora and stakeholders, administering the Bank’s Special Fund resources including performing the role of Implementing Partner of selected partnership facilities, as well as managing the Bank’s engagement with regional co-ordination mechanisms, with the objective of building relationships that can mobilize additional effort and resources for AIIB’s investment operations.

 

Institutional Engagement and Cooperation Team (IEC) under the OPD department is in charge of overall relationship management and strategic alignment with sovereign and non-sovereign partners, originating and managing technical partnerships and providing upstream support.

 

AIIB would like to select suitable candidates to fill the position of Senior Partnership Officer to work in its OPD. The primary responsibility of the Senior Officer is to support AIIB’s non-regional partnership work under the IEC, including partnership engagement and business opportunities identification in regions of Africa and Latin-America.

 

Specific Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

· Reporting directly to the Manager, Institutional Engagement and Regional Cooperation, provide guidance and support for AIIB’s engagement with operational partners with a focus on non-regional member countries (Members of the Bank - AIIB), including philanthropies, NGOs, bilateral and multilateral donors and development institutions, for AIIB’s implementation of its Corporate Strategy.

· Provide operational guidance and support for AIIB’s engagement with global and regional initiatives/platforms with a focus on Africa and Latin-America to identify and originate cross-border connectivity project opportunities while utilizing available internal and external resources and facilities for project preparations.

· Support AIIB’s cooperation with non-regional knowledge partnerships including with the Multilateral Cooperation Center for Development Finance (MCDF) Secretariat through co-hosting the operation matching events and other workshops related to thematic priorities of AIIB Corporate Strategy.

· Explore and develop relationships in AIIB’s non-regional member countries with upstream and concessional finance providers (such as multilateral special funds, philanthropic foundations, and industry institutions) to create mutually beneficial investment opportunities.

· Conduct any other tasks assigned by the Manager, Institutional Engagement and Regional Cooperation and the Director-General, OPD. 

 

Requirements

· Minimum ten (10) years of relevant working experience in project operation and strategic partnership in Africa and Latin America and demonstrated understanding of development issues, particularly in AIIB’s non-regional member countries.

· Ability to provide practical application of policy, financing, technical and operational knowledge to complete difficult assignments.

· Superior client orientation, and able to work with all levels of staff, management, clients and partners; adept at identifying, coordinating and discussing program/project level issues with the Bank’s various departments and management.

· Effective interpersonal, communication, and diplomatic skills, including the ability to work with, and relate to, a wide range of stakeholder-donors, clients, and staff.

· Proven track record of working efficiently, under time pressure and in a multicultural environment.

· Excellent proficiency of professional writing and speaking of English is required. Proficiency in French, Portuguese or Spanish would be considered an asset. Should be comfortable to communicate and work in an international and culturally diverse environment.

· A strong team player with a proactive attitude and able to work independently.

· Minimum Master’s degree in finance, business, economics, international relations, public policy, or related fields from a reputable university.
