Org. Setting and Reporting

The incumbent of this post is responsible to the Credit Operations Manager for operations and administrative matters and to the Chief Field Microfinance Programme for overall supervision.

Responsibilities

In accordance with Agency policy and procedures, the incumbent:
(A) Manages the day-to-day branch operations; provides guidance, encourages team work, facilitates related professional work processes in order to achieve high performance standards;
(B) Reviews, verifies and recommends/approves the loans according to each product’s procedural manual;
(C) Is responsible for the cost-efficiency of his/her branch; sets targets for each product and oversees the work of Area Loan Supervisors to ensure achieving the set targets;
(D) Identifies and advises management of market changes that affect the Department’s operational activities for proper adaptation;
(E) In close coordination with the Chief Field Microfinance Programme and the Credit Operations Manager, oversees the collection of the written-off portfolio through the delegated legal follow-up to the Compliance Consultant to ensure efficient recovery of the delinquent loans;
(F) Coordinates with MD Field Accounting Officer on matters relating to Accounts and Finance. Oversees the finance, cashiering, accounts and administrative functions of the branch office to ensure sound management of the branch through the proper implementation of financial, administrative procedures and guidelines;
(G) Is responsible for administration and security of the Branch Office which includes safety of cash and assets;
(H) Prepares monthly and periodic reports on branch office activities;
(I) Performs such other duties as may be assigned.

Competencies

You will also need to demonstrate the following competencies:
(i) Knowledge and understanding of microfinance;
(ii) Ability to implement work plans and achieve management objectives;
(iii) Ability to supervise and coach staff to achieve results-based targets;
(iv) Ability to manage a cost-centre as a going concern;
(v) Good communication and ability to negotiate and persuade staff;
(vi) Ability to manage a complex team to meet their productivity and efficiency targets;
(vii) Good computer skills and ability to work with spreadsheets.

Education

A university degree in accountancy, finance, banking or business administration.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Post-graduate degree in accounts, banking or finance;

Work Experience

Six years’ experience in management of cash transactions, banking, and credit or finance management. Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is required.

* Conditions of service
-Type of Contract: Fixed Term Appointment- ML5B
- Duration of Contract: 1 year including 1 year probation period, with the possibility of further extension, subject to the availability of funds, satisfactory performance and continuing need.
Monthly basic salary USD1,705.00, payable in JD at UN monthly exchange rate, plus 25% of the basic salary as SPOA (Senior Professional Officer Allowance).
