Overview of position |
Established in 1951, IOM is a Related Organization of the United Nations, and as the leading UN agency in the field of migration, works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants. Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission and the Sr. IBM Programme Coordinator, and the direct supervision of the Programme Officers/IBM and SAR, the Capacity Building Assistant will support the implementation and follow-up of IBM/SAR programme activities concerning building and developing the capacities of local border and immigration entities through coordination with respective governmental institutions, as well as with relevant units within IOM. |
Role objectives |
1. Assist the Programme Officers IBM and SAR in the follow up and general coordination of all programme activities related to capacity building. 2. Coordinate the organization of trainings, study tours, internships, on-the-job-mentoring, workshops, and roundtables as related to the projects. 3. Draft reports, questionnaires, surveys, profiles, application, feedback and interviewing forms related to capacity building activities. 4. Support the liaison with Governmental counterparts for activities related to relevant project activities. 5. Provide information on the capacity building activities as requested and assist in the drafting of minutes of meetings, reports (external and internal reports) and other written materials/documents related to the project deliverables. 6. Support the monitoring and evaluating of the implementation of capacity building activities and maintain relevant records on these activities for M&E and reporting purposes. 7. Liaise with other IOM staff concerning administrative, financial, logistical and operational matters in support of capacity building activities. 8. Draft and translate correspondence and other materials from Arabic into English, and vice-versa and assist with interpretation. 9. Coordinate with partners in the implementation of the capacity building activities for staff, beneficiaries, community structures members and government institutions staff related to the IBM Programme. 10. Perform such other related duties as may be assigned inclusive of duty travels. |
