About IRRI
The International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) is dedicated to reducing poverty and hunger through rice science; improving the health and welfare of rice farmers and consumers; and protecting the rice-growing environment for future generations. IRRI is an independent, nonprofit, research and educational institute, founded in 1960 by the Ford and Rockefeller foundations with support from the Philippine government. The institute, headquartered in Los Baños, Philippines, has offices in 17 rice-growing countries in Asia and Africa, and over 1,000 staff.

Working with in-country partners, IRRI develops advanced rice varieties that yield more grain and better withstand pests and disease as well as flooding, drought, and other harmful effects of climate change.
Job Purpose

Under the direct supervision of the Manager of Engagement, facilitate the planning, implementation and evaluation of high-profile events (i.e. IR8, IRC etc.) and country visits to create engagement opportunities for IRRI and potential donors, project partners and collaborators. Work collaboratively with other IRRI sub-units as well as external stakeholders (i.e. local and national governing units, country representatives etc.) to ensure that partnership/engagement initiatives and activities are properly implemented. Lead and oversee meeting and logistics staff to ensure that the collaterals, program, guidelines and protocols are properly adhered to during the visit or program/event execution

This position will be based at the IRRI Headquarters, Los Baños, Philippines and may only be filled by permanent citizens of the Philippines.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Facilitate the planning, implementation and evaluation of high-profile events (i.e. IR8, IRC etc.) and country visits to create engagement opportunities for IRRI and potential donors, project partners and collaborators
  • Provide technical recommendations in the conceptualization of events including the preparation of the event program, logistics, goal setting and milestones and post-event evaluation
  •  Work collaboratively with other IRRI sub-units as well as external stakeholders (i.e. local and national governing units, country representatives, etc.) to ensure that engagement initiatives and activities for partners and donors are implemented well
  • Collaborate with other IRRI Communication staff and IRRI departments to ensure that events and engagement initiatives provide maximum positive profile for IRRI
  • Implement event plan to ensure that the set budget, collaterals, program, guidelines and protocols are properly adhered to during the visit or program/event execution
  • Conduct, collect and evaluate post-event evaluations to ensure constant and continuous aid to process improvement
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Science, Community Development, International Development, Public Relations with 5 years relevant work experience; or
  • Master’s degree in Social Science, Community Development, International Development, Public Relations with 2 years of relevant work experience
Skills Required

Mandatory

  • Experience in events management and planning (including budget monitoring, logistics, etc.)
  • Strong interpersonal and people management skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of government protocols and guidelines

Preferred

  • Experience working in an international setting
