Background:

 

The OSCE Mission in Kosovo Governance Section/Democratization Department is recruiting up to three local intern(s) who are looking to gain experience and provide assistance in monitoring the proceedings and work of the Assembly of Kosovo.

 

The incumbents will undertake an internship of 3 - 6 months (based on availability), within the period from March to August 2023. 
 

 

Tasks and Responsibilities:

 

The selected interns will have the opportunity to gain an overview of the work of the OSCE Mission in Kosovo and focus on human dimension related activities. Under the overall supervision of the Project Manager, the intern will carry out the following duties:

  • Participate and carry out monitoring of the proceedings of Assembly of Kosovo plenary and committee meetings in line with the section’s programmatic priorities;
  • Draft and compile monitoring reports according to methodologies developed by OSCE supervisor(s);
  • Actively update progress on monitoring indicators identified by the section;
  • Report on a weekly basis to the section’s focal point on monitoring indicators and findings.

Necessary Qualifications:

 

 

  • Be not older than 30 years on the date of the deadline of the vacancy notice and have completed two years of full-time post-secondary education in an accredited institution or have completed a first or advanced degree in social sciences, law, or a related field to the OSCE’s mandate no longer than two years before the date of the deadline of the vacancy notice; 
  • Sound knowledge of the subject matter on Kosovo’s legislative system and the work of the Assembly of Kosovo;
  • Genuine interest in engaging with monitoring the work of various bodies of the Assembly of Kosovo;
  • Good research and drafting skills; 
  • Professional fluency in English with excellent communication skills; Computer literacy (Microsoft package);    
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with people from different backgrounds, whilst maintaining impartiality and objectivity.
  • Previous experience in conducting monitoring and reporting related to good governance is desirable.

Remuneration Package:

 

 

The incumbent will undertake a 3 to 6 months internship within the period from March to August. Candidates are requested to indicate their availability dates in the cover letter, as well as their preference and availability to in-person or online internship.

 

 

The OSCE is not in a position to pay any remuneration or cover expenses incurred by the intern. However, some compensation towards the cost of living will be offered to the interns who do not have permanent residence in Prishtinë/Priština and who do not receive financial support from another institution. In 2023, this compensation amounts to 11, 3 EUR per day (i.e. 10% of the Board and Lodging Allowance).

 

The selected interns must provide evidence of health insurance coverage which is valid for Kosovo, otherwise they shall be obliged to join the OSCE group health insurance for the period of their internship, in which case the OSCE shall pay the corresponding premium in full (EUR 40.35 per month), as well as the premium costs of group life and accident/disability insurance.

 

Participation in the internship programme does not constitute a commitment to future employment with the OSCE.
