Our team and mission
The Technology Programmes Office is responsible for:
- managing the General Support Technology Programme (GSTP) and the Technology Development Element within the Basic Activities, including the definition of the associated work plans, monitoring of implementation and assessment of achievements;
- communicating, disseminating and archiving results of all R&D activities and supporting and organising training on technology matters;
- maintaining the technology website of the Directorate in coordination with the Communication Officer;
- providing support to Member States in preparing and implementing national technology R&D programmes and projects through collaborative activities and third-party services;
- leading efforts on technology breakthroughs, innovation and spin-in.

Field(s) of activity/research for the traineeship
As Young Graduate Trainee, you will, with the support of a tutor and the team more generally, gather knowledge of technology activity management and processes.
You will investigate recent developments, reported best practices and proven methodologies in the field of technology R&D management.
You will also evaluate the technologies developed within the technology programmes to analyse the main objectives and the origin of those activities (e.g. follow-up of Discovery & Preparation studies, technology push, project needs, technology portfolio) with regard to achievement assessment.
You will also support the dissemination of results and lessons learned within the Agency to Member State delegates, industry and partners, as well as various initiatives to achieve the industrial policy objectives. You will also contribute to knowledge management.
Through contact with ESA experts, you will gather knowledge of state-of-the-art and future technologies, as well as an understanding of ESA collaboration with Member States and partners and of the European space industry landscape.

Education
You should have just completed, or be in the final year of your Master’ s degree in a technical or scientific discipline.
Additional requirements
You should have good interpersonal and communication skills and should be able to work in a multicultural environment, both independently and as part of a team.
The working languages of the Agency are English and French. A good knowledge of one of these is required. Knowledge of another Member State language would be an asset.
