Field(s) of activity/research for the traineeship

As a Young Graduate Trainee, you will be involved in the management of Headquarters operations under the responsibility of the HQ EFM Division. Specifically, you will play a key role in the management of New Ways Of Working (NWoW) in a modern working environment and will also be fully involved in local and corporate certification processes such as ISO 9001, BREEAM-in-use and WELL.

You will contribute to the promotion of best practices in the provision and setup of the new working environment in all ESA Headquarters buildings and to the definition of a long-term plan responding to the Agency’s needs. In particular, this will consist in participating in the preparation and follow-up of various user requirements, satisfaction surveys, preparation of improvement plans and communication actions.  

In addition, you will support the management of EFM service contracts (including, for example, catering, cleaning, general services and security) to ensure that agreed levels of service are met. This will consist in providing support for the reporting, compilation of data into different databases and analysis of information provided in accordance with various key performance indicators (KPIs).

Finally, you will contribute to ensuring the overall compliance of ESA HQ Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) management with applicable French legislation and ESA’s health, safety and sustainable development policies and objectives. You will experience and contribute to the implementation and management in use of ISO 50001, WELL, BREEAM, NF HQE, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards in new, state-of-art facilities specifically designed and certified in order to meet the sustainable development and corporate social responsibility ambitions of the European Space Agency.

Education

You should have just completed or be in the final year of your master’s degree in safety and environmental engineering or a related discipline.

 

Additional requirements

  • Good knowledge of WELL and BREEAM digital platforms
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 applications
  • Knowledge of Agency-approved user survey tools, such as LimeSurvey
  • Excellent planning, work organisational and multitasking skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in an international environment (cross-cultural sensitivity, open-mindedness)
  • Understanding of the rules of the ESA Personal Data Protection Framework

Specific competence in one of the following disciplines will be considered an asset:

  • Good knowledge of and qualification for  the following standards: ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, 50001
  • Qualified professional knowledge of NF HQE, WELL and BREEAM-in-use standards

 

You should have good interpersonal and communication skills and should be able to work in a multicultural environment, both independently and as part of a team.

 

The working languages of the Agency are English and French. A good knowledge of one of these is required. Knowledge of another Member State language would be an asset.
