EUROPEAN SPACE AGENCY
Young Graduate Trainee in Gateway Training Analysis, Planning and Facilities Definition
Young Graduate Opportunity in the Directorate of Human and Robotic Exploration Programmes
ESA is an equal opportunity employer, committed to achieving diversity within the workforce and creating an inclusive working environment. We therefore welcome applications from all qualified candidates irrespective of gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, beliefs, age, disability or other characteristics. Applications from women are encouraged.
This post is classified F1 on the Coordinated Organisations’ salary scale.
Location
EAC, Porz-Wahn, Germany
Our team and mission
The Space Training Team at the European Astronaut Centre (EAC) prepares astronauts and ground support personnel (e.g. Flight Control Team) for their space missions. The current focus of our activities is the International Space Station (ISS). Astronauts and cosmonauts from the US, Russia, Japan, Canada and Europe are regularly trained for ESA’s ISS contributions at the EAC. However, for the first time in 20 years, with the Gateway outpost, a new programme in human spaceflight requires training development from the ground up. We will use the experience gained from the ISS in low-Earth orbit to build a training programme with the international partners contributing to bringing humans back to the Moon.
Our team combines technical and educational expertise to deliver optimal training results for complex topics in a very limited timeframe. The team uses a mix of 1:1-scale models, simulators and analogue missions, as well as emerging technologies, e.g. virtual reality, to ensure that trainees achieve their objectives. No less importantly, we also train for teamwork, communication, and behavioural skills.
