Our team and mission
The GNSS Regional Augmentation System Division is responsible for the development of the EGNOS system and its qualification, in its role as Design and Procurement Agent, under the programme management of the European Commission. Version 2.4.2 and Version 3 of the system are currently under procurement in phase CD.
The GNSS Regional Augmentation System Division also manages a number of Research and Development activities under the H2020/Horizon Europe Infrastructure and NAVISP Programmes.
The System Engineering Section of the GNSS Regional Augmentation System Division manages the following:
- EGNOS evolutions;
- EGNOS performances and applications;
- EGNOS industrial simulation and analysis tools;
- International and standardisation activities;
- Space segment;
- EGNOS communication and education.

Field(s) of activity/research for the traineeship
As a Young Graduate Trainee, will be responsible for providing support to performance and systems engineering-related activities within the System Engineering Section of the GNSS Regional Augmentation System Division, by:
- supporting the project’s overall ambition to extend EGNOS services for aviation to rail and maritime applications;
- performing systems engineering analyses based on performance simulations;
- supporting the development, improvement, optimisation, installation, testing and critical assessment of EGNOS system performance tools;
- producing technical documents (e.g. performance analyses reports);
- supporting the review of performance-related technical documents produced by industry;
- supporting the review of documentation corresponding to other activities managed or supported by the GNSS Regional Augmentation System Division;
- conducting regular internal reporting on the system performance;
- supporting performance investigation activities.

Education
You should have just completed or be in the final year of a master’s degree in telecommunications engineering, aerospace, electronic engineering, computer science or similar.
Additional requirements
Applicants must have hands-on experience of using analysis tools and problem-solving.
You should have good interpersonal and communication skills and should be able to work in a multi-cultural environment, both independently and as part of a team.
The working languages of the Agency are English and French. A good knowledge of one of these is required. Knowledge of another Member State language would be an asset.
