Senior Scientific Officer

ICRISAT seeks applications from dynamic professionals for the position of Senior Scientific Officer for Crop Breeding under Accelerated Crop Improvement (ACI) Program. This position will be based at Bhubaneswar and would be reporting to Crop Breeding Cluster Leader.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Organize on-farm seed production, registration, certification and lifting of legumes seed
• Conduct on-farm demonstrations of legumes varieties, and allied technologies, and document the outcome from the demonstrations.
• Conduct capacity building programs for SHGs, farmers and extension staff
• Prepare monthly progress reports, the project reports and document all the on-farm activities.
• Facilitate linkages with the supply chain for procurement of the legumes.
• Assist in conducting surveys in the field of agriculture and agribusiness.
• Ability to work as a team member in collaboration with DoA, OUAT and OSSCL.
• Knowledge of Agribusiness and Seed entrepreneurship.
• Any other assigned works by the Supervisor.

 Requirements:

·MSc (Ag) (from any discipline) or equivalent with 3 to 5 years of work experience.

·Essential experience in on-farm agriculture related work, like conducting on-farm demonstration, capacity building, surveys related to agriculture and agribusiness or any other.

·Desirable experience in hand holding agri-business
