Background

The UN Women Sudan Office has focused its 2018-2023 intervention on contributing to the achievement of three impacts areas selected based on the context analysis of Sudan:

  • Women have income security, decent work, and economic autonomy.
  • Women and girls contribute and have greater influence in building sustainable peace and resilience, and benefit equally from prevention of national disasters and conflicts, and from humanitarian action.
  • Women lead, participate in and benefit equally from governance systems.

For the effective implementation of the 2023 Annual Work Plan, the UN Women country office is seeking to recruit of a Planning, Monitoring, and Reporting consultant that will join the M&E team to support the implementation of the team’s workplan and to contribute to the timely and effective response to the team’s numerous solicitations.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the National Program Specialist, the Consultant will work with the M&E team to contribute to the following tasks, duties, and responsibilities and any other duty in the scope of the assignment:

Program formulation and planning:

  • Contribute to the preparation/review of strategic planning information (SN, AWP, etc.) and planning tools (DRF / OEEF, MERP, MERP etc.)
  • Support IPs/RPs in the design of project proposals and initiatives related to the office's priority areas, especially on the development of results chains.
  • Support the development of Monitoring & Evaluation Frameworks.
  • Support integrate results, findings, and recommendations of relevant evaluations into program design.
  • Contribute to the follow up on the approval of UN Women Sudan Donor Agreements.
  • Contribute to the collection of information on resource mobilization and maintain the UN Women Sudan office profile on the internal resource mobilization effort management platform (LEADS).

Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Support the maintenance of the Sudan Program's profile on the various UN Women internal online management systems (RMS, QUANTUM, LEADS, DAMS, PGAMS, etc.).
  • Assist in the upload of approved partner selection files, and follow up on approval, management, reporting (technical and financial) and finalization in the Partnership and Grant Agreement Management System (PGAMS).
  • Contribute to following up on the timely submission of partners and Donor reports.
  • Support the review of partners data on a quarterly basis, extract results and provide substantive input to regular management notes to facilitate decision making.
  • Contribute to the monitoring, review and reporting of the office annual work plan (Quarterly reports, Donor reports).
  • Support program Staff with the development and monitoring of project budgets (including in the ERP).

Capacity Building:

  • Support the Identification and dissemination of good practices, lessons, and knowledge as identified through program implementation, monitoring and evaluation activities.
  • Contribute to the development of capacity building tools, including training materials and modules.
  • Contribute to the organization of capacity building sessions for UN Women Staff and implementing partners/responsible parties

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in Project Management, Business Administration, International Development, or another related field.

Experience:

  • Work experience with the United Nations. A previous work experience with UN Women is an asset.
  • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in Planning, Monitoring and Reporting.
  • Demonstrated experience in supporting similar kinds of assignments.
  • Knowledge of program management and results-based management tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in an independent manner; ability to organize work efficiently and deal with multiple tasks.

Language:

  • Excellent oral and written skills in English.
