Mission and objectives
World Health Organization (WHO) is the lead UN agency on health. The mission of WHO's Health Emergencies Programme (The Programme) is to build the capacity of Member States to manage health emergency risks and, when national capacities are overwhelmed, to lead and coordinate the international health response to contain outbreaks and to provide effective relief and recovery to affected populations.

Task description
Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) Officer or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UNV Public Health Specialist will: • Contribute to and implement the capacity building activities related to strengthening the national immunization programme; • Support planning, monitoring, and implementation of the national communication strategy targeting routine immunization (mass media, community engagement, field activities); • Support the activities surrounding vaccine preventable diseases, tuberculosis, and HIV control; • Participate in the development of core document related to the national immunization program including standard operating procedures, guidelines, and manuals; • Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor. Results/Expected Outputs: As an active WHO Jordan team member, efficient, timely, responsive, client-friendly and high-quality support rendered to WHO Jordan and its beneficiaries in the accomplishment of her/his functions, including: * Overseeing the implementation of the capacity building plan to strengthen routine immunization; * Develop guidance, standard operating procedures and other relevant documents surrounding routine vaccination; * Increase the awareness on routine vaccination.
