Mission and objectives

UNFPA, the United Nations sexual and reproductive health agency, works to: End unmet need for family planning End maternal death End violence and harmful practices against women and girls It does this by: Securing reproductive health care for women and young people in more than 150 countries. Providing life-saving help for pregnant women, especially the one million facing life-threatening complications each month. Ensuring reliable access to modern contraceptives for some 20 million women. Fighting to end gender-based violence, which affects 1 in 3 women. Campaigning for the 70 million girls who face marriage before 18 in the next five years. Advocating the end of female genital mutilation, which harms 3 million girls yearly. Delivering safe birth supplies, dignity kits and other life-saving products to survivors of conflicts and disasters. The USAID Partnering for Resilience Program is implemented jointly by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in partnership with four UN sub-partner agencies: Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women). Within the framework of the project, UNFPA aims to strengthen the cross-border referral system through establishment of effective mechanisms for timely detection of high-risk pregnant women and their proper referrals within and outside the Abkhaz territory.

Context

The USAID Partnering for Resilience Program is implemented jointly by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in partnership with other four UN sub-partner agencies: FAO, UNICEF and UN Women. Within the framework of the project, UNFPA aims to strengthen the cross-border referral system through establishment of effective mechanisms for timely detection of high-risk pregnant women and their proper referrals within and outside the Abkhaz territory. Support provided by Online Volunteers through developing visual design deliverables will contribute to the implementation of public information and communication activities, reach out both to project partners and the most vulnerable conflict-affected population in Abkhazia, Georgia with easily understandable and accessible communication materials. Moreover, by distributing the visual material to service providers and the population, we raise their awareness on the availability of the public health referral mechanism, thus providing opportunities for them to access quality health services they are fully entitled to.

Task description

We are seeking 1-2 Online Volunteers to support us in developing visuals material for publications, infographics, data visualizations, brochures, flyers, report covers and layout. Develop and create approximately 4 to 8 visual design deliverables related to health referral mechanism, for example by visualizing health referral pathway based on the existing document on health care organization described in text. Create and edit 6-8 infographics; Create graphically engaging 2-3 presentation materials; The Online Volunteers will have the opportunity to build connections with at UNFPA Georgia Partnership for Resilience Project in Abkhazia, Georgia and learn about the ways in which the translated product contributes to strengthen the health referral mechanism in the region.
