UNICEF Botswana is looking to engage a driver, who will support the work of the Polio Response and Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) as related to administrative activities, programmatic activities and coordinating actions with members of the team. The incumbent will also collaborate with other clusters as and when necessary, for a duration of 6 months.

Purpose of the Position


Under overall guidance of the Senior Administration and Finance Associate, and in liaison with the Cluster Coordinators, the driver will support the work of the Polio Response and Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) as related to administrative activities, programmatic activities and coordinating actions with members of the team. The incumbent will also collaborate with other clusters as and when necessary, for a duration of 6 months.
The driver will provide reliable and safe driving services, demonstrating the highest standards of professionalism, discretion, integrity, sense of responsibility, excellent knowledge of protocol whilst ensuring compliance with local driving rules and regulations.
The Driver will demonstrate a client-oriented approach, high sense of responsibility, courtesy, tact and the ability to work with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.


Job Description
1. Under the leadership of Head of UNICEF Country Office and the overall guidance of Operations Manager, the incumbent is assigned the following responsibilities:
2. Drives office vehicles to provide transportation of authorized personnel and delivery and collection of mail, documents and other items.
3. Meets official personnel at the airport and facilitates immigration and customs formalities as required:
4. Responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle, checks oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, etc., performs minor repairs and arranges for other repairs, regular servicing and ensures that the vehicle is kept clean.
5. Logs official trips, daily mileage, gas consumptions, oil changes, greasing, etc.
6. Ensures that the steps required by the rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in accident;
7. Performs other duties as required.

I. Periodic update on the status of implementation of activities as assigned
II. End of Contract Report
III. Maintenance of vehicle logbook

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

• A secondary education is required, along with a valid driver’s license and knowledge of local driving rules and regulations.
• A minimum of two years of work experience as a driver in an international organization, embassy or UN system with a safe driving record is required.
• Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
