The Division of Human Resources’ Global Learning and Development Centre (GLDC), based in Budapest, Hungary, provides a range of staff development support services to colleagues in UNHCR to learn new skills, acquire knowledge to improve their performance and to be able to better manage their individual career paths. The People and Wellbeing Learning and Development Unit of the GLDC supports learning in the functional area of Human Resource Management for UNHCR’s existing global HR workforce of 800+ and colleagues looking to transition to the function. A wide variety of learning solutions are designed to help learners acquire knowledge and skills and build capacity that is essential for creating and maintaining strategic and effective Human Resource Management processes that ensure all colleagues are supported and equipped to deliver the best solutions for people of concern to UNHCR.
The position
We are seeking a dynamic, creative, proactive and innovative team player, with a strong interest in learning and development, human resource management and the humanitarian field. The selected candidate will get hands-on experience in designing digital learning solutions encompassing UNHCR’s human resource processes and will get the chance to work in a multicultural team.
Duties and responsibilities
• Contribute to the development of written materials, guides and job aids to be used for learning/staff development purposes
• Support of the graphic and instructional design of new learning materials (instructional videos, e-learnings, checklists, micro-learnings)
• Support the uploading of learning materials and content into the Learning Management System and communication tools including UNHCR’s Intranet
• Contribute to the design, implementation and maintenance of communications and engagement plans and processes aimed at knowledge and information sharing across the global HR workforce of UNHCR using several communication tools and channels
• Conduct research around global best practices and potential speakers for various learning events (e.g. HR Learning Series, Careers@UNHCR, conference and external learning opportunities)
• Provide general administrative support for the People and Wellbeing Learning and Development Unit
• Ad hoc tasks as per the Unit’s needs and the intern’s interests
Minimum qualifications required
In order to be considered for an internship, candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria:
• Be either a recent graduate (having completed their studies within two years of applying) or a current student in a graduate/undergraduate school programme from a university or higher education facility accredited by IAU/UNESCO; and
• Have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies in a relevant field (e.g. Human Resources, Business Administration, Andragogy, Communications, Law, International Relations, etc.) or of interest to the work of UNHCR.
• Fluency in English at minimum B2 level.
NOTE: An individual whose father, mother, son, daughter, brother or sister is a staff member of UNHCR, including a Temporary Appointment holder or a member of the Affiliate Workforce, is not eligible for an internship.
Conditions
This is a full-time role with working hours starting from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday to Friday (40 hours per week). The successful candidate will be requested to be physically present in the office at least three days per week (Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays are office days).
Allowance: Interns who do not receive financial support from an outside party will receive an allowance to partially help to cover the cost of food, local transportation and living expenses.
Candidates might be required to sit a written test.
