Mission and objectives
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is a dynamic and growing inter-governmental organization, with 172 member states, and committed to the principle that humane and orderly migration benefits all. IOM works to ensure the orderly and humane management of migration, to promote international cooperation on migration issues, to assist in the search for practical solutions to migration problems and to provide humanitarian assistance to migrants in need including refugees and internally displaced persons (IDP).
Context
The UN Volunteer will be assigned to the Majuro country office and will be responsible for supporting IOM on all aspects of providing capacity-building assistance to grantees of Small Grants Awards (SGAs), including but not limited to Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), Non-Government organizations (NGOs), private individuals / organizations and businesses. The country office oversees project implementation in three countries namely Republic of Marshall Islands, Republic of Palau and the Federated States of Micronesia.
Task description
Under the direct supervision of the Head of Sub Office in Majuro the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks: • Provide regular capacity building support to recipients of small grants through IOM funded projects, including but not limited to NGOs, CSOs, private individuals / organizations and businesses. • Provide assistance to grantees when applying for grants, including by offering support on the application process and by providing technical assistance in drafting and finalizing grant applications. • Regularly coordinate and communicate with recipients to ensure that grant deliverables are achieved as required in grant awards. • Conduct regular monitoring of awards implemented in RMI. Directly visit sites to conduct monitoring and update relevant programme managers on progress of grants. • Coordinate with programme managers to deliver relevant capacity-building workshops for beneficiaries and organize any necessary logistics. • Support programme managers to identify thematic experts to provide additional technical assistance to grant awardees. • Ensure that awardees are completing reporting requirements and filing receipts and relevant documents as necessary. • Regularly update programme managers on the implementation of grants and support the development of external and internal updates. • Compile information for regular IOM Monitoring Reports in coordination with the programme managers. • Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
