The Global Green Growth Institute internship program (also called "Grow Green" Program) provides a unique learning opportunity for students and recent graduates from diverse academic backgrounds. The program allows selected candidates to gain insight into the work of the Institute and provides assistance and training in various professional fields in a multicultural environment. CURRENT OPPORTUNITY

This is a unique opportunity to support project and portfolio monitoring for GGGI country programs in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). The position holder will support the monitoring of GGGI’s projects in the LAC region to ensure that project results are clear and well documented, and that project information is easily understandable, visible and accessible. The intern will ensure alignment and communication of program results with GGGI strategy, regional and country objectives. The intern will be part of the Latin America & Caribbean Regional Office, but can be physically located in Mexico City, Bogota or Lima. The intern will report to GGGI Senior Regional Portfolio Officer.  In collaboration with the Regional Portfolio Officer, s/he will:

  • Support project and program monitoring, assessment and oversight
  • Enhance the communication of project and program results
  • Identify opportunities for improvement of project monitoring and information sharing
  • Leverage GGGI’s internal system, GGGI Online to ensure that high quality information and results of GGGI’s projects and programs are captured and available
  • Support other aspects of the LAC regional portfolio as required

The intern will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Review the submission of monthly reports, and highlight risks impacting projects in the portfolio
  • Prepare a monthly overview of regional project and program risks
  • Create communication materials on completed projects for internal and external stakeholders
  • Develop templates and follow up tools to improve project monitoring and oversight
  • Support project reporting to external donors
  • Ensure that project and program information is of high quality in GGGI’s internal systems
  • Carry out research and analysis to identify new areas of development and improvement of monitoring the regional portfolio
  • Support other aspects of the LAC regional portfolio as required

 

ELIGIBILITY                                                                         

Applicants to the GGGI internship program must at the time of application one of the following requirements:

  • Be enrolled in a Bachelor’s (final year), Master’s or PhD program prior to internship assignment, or a recent graduate within the last 12 months.
  • Be engaged or recently engaged in academic study in a field directly related to GGGI’s work
  • Possess an excellent command of English and Spanish

 

QUALIFICATIONS
  • University degree in a field relevant to climate change, green growth, sustainability, climate finance, economics, monitoring and evaluation, etc.
  • Spoken and written fluency in English and Spanish
  • Prior experience monitoring international development projects delivered by NGOs or international organizations is a plus
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Experience in the use of Microsoft 365 application, particularly SharePoint is desirable
  • Proficient in the use of Adobe suite, including In Design is highly desirable, but not required

SELECTION PROCESS

  • GGGI evaluates applications based on: eligibility requirements, relevance of academic study and work experience (if any); and the level of interest and motivation to contribute to development work.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION 
  • Duration: The internship program is for at least three months and up to six months. Once selected, interns must begin your internship either prior to or within 12 months of graduation. 
  • Stipend: GGGI interns receive a monthly stipend of USD$500 per month. All costs related to travel, insurance, accommodation, and living expenses must be borne by either the interns or their sponsoring institutions.  
  • Visa: GGGI will provide a supporting letter for visa. Interns will be responsible for obtaining and financing the necessary visas.  
  • Travel: Intern will arrange and finance their travel to the internship location.  
  • Medical Insurance: Interns must present proof of valid medical insurance to GGGI upon returning the signed internship contract.
  • Confidentiality: Interns must keep confidential any and all unpublished information obtained during the course of the internship and may not publish any documents based on such information.  
  • Academic Credit: Interns may get academic credit from their institution of higher education for the internship. Interns need to check with their university to confirm their academic credit policy for internships.  
  • Working Hours: interns are expected to work during normal working hours. Leave should be pre-approved by the Intern Manager, and the latter should inform the Office of HR accordingly.
  • Learning Outcomes: before completion of the internship, Intern Managers are expected to review the learning outcomes with the intern.
  • Certificate: provided upon successful completion of the internship, upon request.
