ICRISAT seeks application from Indian nationals, for the position of ‘ Manager-landscape management – ICRISAT Development Centre’’to support activities of Global Research Program on Resilient Farm and Food Systems (GRP-RF&FS) on Natural Resource Management. There is a requirement of a position where the incumbents will be based at Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh and will report to Global Research Program Director, RF&FS, ICRISAT. As Resilient Farm and Food Systems involved in number of research and development projects towards Natural Resource Management, support implementation of large-scale rainwater harvesting and number of NRM interventions components using science-based approach in different projects across diverse agro ecological regions of Indian states.

Tropical dryland areas are usually seen as resource-poor and perennially beset by shocks such as drought, thereby trapping dryland communities in poverty and hunger and making them dependent on external aid. Responsibilities:

  • Develop net planning of various landscape resource conservation interventions and preparing detailed project report.
  • Monitoring the execution of a range of rainwater harvesting structures (e.g., renovation of existing water bodies, check dam, community farm pond, field bunding, field drainage structure, diversion drains, etc.) and maintain the Measurement Book
  • Estimation of earth and masonry works undertaken during and after the interventions implemented and its costing.
  • Willingness to work closely with farming community and travel extensively to various project locations.

Requirements:

  • MSc in agricultural sciences/basic science or related disciplines with working experience of minimum 20 years
  • Demonstrated skills on constructing masonry and earthen rainwater harvesting and earthen structures.

General:

This is a contractual position for a period of 36 months.
