We are looking for an engaged Communications Manager with solid expertise and a passion for FSC’s mission, to join our Communications Programme and work with us in a multinational environment.

 

The Scope

As a key member of the global Communications team, the Communications Manager would develop, establish, maintain, and improve the communication efforts to meet FSC’s International objectives. 

 

Main Roles and Responsibilities

  • To lead the execution of communication programs from start to finish, leveraging internal and external support and driving collaboration.
  • To lead the creation of a variety of engaging written communications and visual content, ensuring quality, accuracy, and compelling storytelling that aligns with corporate messaging.
  • Coordinate and oversee the storytelling projects, including identifying potential stories, brief development, story gathering, photo and video production, writing, and publication.
  • Contribute to the creation, edition, curation, and design of content for news items, bylined articles, editorials, newsletters, websites, publications, factsheets, brochures and infographics.
  • Coordinate and develop the social media plan, including social and digital media content, campaign ideation, creation, timely posting, oversight of social media channels, effective community management, promotion, and reporting.
  • Assess, manage and execute social media influencer relationships and activations, including contracts, itineraries, posts, and follow-ups.
  • To maintain a content production calendar with an organized schedule of cadenced messaging needs.
  • Proactively drive a continuous feedback loop to develop social media campaign KPIs, assess the effectiveness of the campaigns, and make recommendations to improve based on goals and objectives.
  • To lead the production of videos and podcasts for social media and other channels, from the script to the final version of the assets.
  • Additional tasks as agreed with the Communications Programme Manager.

 

Qualification, Experience and Skills

Education and Training: University degree in communications, journalism, digital communications, marketing, or related field.

 

Working Experience, Style and Skills:

  • At least 5 years of professional experience in communications for highly respected organisation(s), ideally with client facing experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of communication principles, methodologies, tools, and platforms (news items, publications, campaigns, web, and social media).
  • Experience in communicating complex, challenging or controversial themes, including an understanding of the safeguarding requirements and content production best-practice in NGO contexts.
  • Demonstrated experience managing or creating content for social media channels.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple projects at once in a fast-paced, dynamic communications environment.
  • Experience in managing an in-house briefing and production process: creating detailed schedules, setting deadlines, and distributing work between creative resource, as well as monitoring, prioritising, and making adjustments in line with workflow.
  • Self-starter who can work independently as part of an international team.
  • Natural and highly effective collaborator with the ability to drive results through teamwork.
  • Service and solution-oriented attitude to work.
  • Energetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive.
  • Exceptional standards for quality and strong organizational/project management skills.
  • Has a deep commitment to responsible forestry and/or broad sustainability in alignment with FSC’s mission.

 

Communication Skills:

  • Proven, high-quality communications skills, both written and verbal, with demonstrated ability to create and deliver complex messaging in clear, concise language to varied audiences.
  • Excellent copywriting skills, with proven experience in writing, editing and proofreading impactful content for the web, media and other digital channels.
  • Open-minded and communicative personality with a high degree of B2B and B2C orientation.
  • Ability to develop strong, positive relationships with external and internal stakeholders geared toward FSC’s mission.

 

Languages:

  • Fluency in English (spoken and written).
  • Proficiency in another language is a plus.

 

Computer Skills:

  • High level of competence with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Familiarity with Social media monitoring tools and MailChimp or similar newsletter creating systems.
  • Competence in Adobe creative suite is a plus.

 

Terms and Conditions

  • Location: Bonn, Germany.
  • Working Hours: Full time - 40 hours per week.
  • Duration of Employment: Temporary contract - 2 years (extension possible, subject to satisfactory performance)
  • Starting Date: As soon as possible.
  • Travel: Sporadic travel is required.
