AIIB’s Strategy, Policy and Budget (SPB) Department is responsible for: (i) developing and monitoring the implementation of the Bank’s strategic agenda; (ii) developing and overseeing compliance with the Bank’s operational policies and procedures for the Bank’s infrastructure investment operations (non-treasury), including environmental, social, procurement and financial management; and (iii) developing and monitoring the Bank’s annual business plan to implement the Bank’s strategies and manage the Bank’s administrative budget to support the implementation of the annual business plan.

 

The SPB is recruiting a Policy and Data Associate with the primary responsibilities of managing and analyzing the corporate portfolio data to generate insights, including organizing datasets, conducting regular portfolio analysis, providing inputs to AIIB’s financial model, and translating numbers into high-impact results to support the Bank’s strategic planning and operation.

 

Responsibilities:

· Serve as the primary data curator and the point of contact in the SPB Policy team for data queries. Organize and interpret statistics to serve business needs. Facilitate routine data updates and database maintenance.

· Manage large datasets and investigate what’s behind the Corporate Scorecard indicators. Conduct both qualitative and quantitative analysis using modern tools to feed in the quarterly operational updates. Provide trend analysis, identify key influencers, and spot early warning signs in the portfolio quality. Contribute to the annual Business Plan projections leveraging predictive analytics and forecasting methods.

· Assist Bank staff in preparing inputs to the Long-term Financial Projection model. Develop business sense from historical data or data from similar institutions to formulate sound assumptions and suggest ways to improve the existing model and streamline work arrangements. Coordinate between teams to ensure smooth coordination and delivery under tight deadlines.

· Test and provide feedback to the Bank’s online information management system. Contribute to the development of the system to ensure information is sufficiently and effectively captured for all user types. Improve data processing efficiency, such as automating data scraping, importing, validation, etc. Ensure functions are built-in to support the daily work of the Policy team.

· Develop visualizations and interactive dashboards to provide value-added data insights using software such as Power BI. Summarize key issues and present information in a clear and concise manner. Work across teams and departments effectively to get things done.

Requirements:

· A bachelor’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Business Administration, Finance, or other related fields with a strong quantitative and computational background.

· Minimum 3 to 5 years of relevant working experience in data management, modeling, and business planning. Experience in international organizations or infrastructure investments would be a plus.

· Demonstrated expertise in data production, data management, and complex analysis. Specialize in statistical modeling and possess strong technical and quantitative skills to conduct research and analysis individually, with the familiarity of large online databases. Knowledge of financial models and risk management is desirable.

· Capable of concisely articulating the key issues to the Management. Perform effective communication and coordination across teams and departments.

· Superior skills in Excel, PowerPoint, and analytical tools, such as Stata, R, and Power BI.

· Exceptionally high attention to detail and a demonstrated ability to identify and resolve errors and inconsistencies as part of a comprehensive quality control process.

· Good team player and exhibit professional maturity as well as discretion and sensitivity required for operating in a multicultural setting.

· Proficient oral and written communication skills in English.

· Proven ability to multitask, work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
