Office/Unit/Project Description

UNDP works in about 170 countries and territories, helping to eradicate poverty, reduce inequalities and exclusion, and build resilience so countries can sustain progress. As the UN’s development agency, UNDP plays a critical role in helping countries achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

The Oslo Governance Centre (OGC) is UNDPs dedicated Global Policy Centre for Governance issues. It promotes transformative governance for peaceful, just and inclusive societies. The Centre creates knowledge, insight and data on key governance challenges by drawing on the experience of practitioners, policymakers and researchers. OGC responds to complex and rapidly evolving policy landscapes by creating mutually reinforcing linkages between UNDPs on the ground governance work in over 170 countries and territories and global thought-leadership. Through this converging of perspectives, we unravel complex governance puzzles and frontier challenges in a way that benefits both global dialogue and citizen experience, restoring faith in democratic governance at all levels.

This position will primarily go under the Centre's outputs on strategic communications, engagement and advocacy supported to co-create new ideas, enrich discussion, and inform the global discourse on inclusive governance.

Strategic communication is a centerpiece of establishing the UNDP Oslo Governance Centre. OGC is a conversation starter that engages the public and key stakeholders in an open debate on how to solve the acute governance issues of our time. This will be achieved through a communications strategy that provides guidance and clarity on the tools to be used.

  6. Strengthen UNDP’s and OGCs visibility and outreach on key governance issues;
  7. Draft talking points and background notes for OGC staff and senior UNDP officials;
  8. Draft op-eds and talking points for press engagement and place UNDP’s news stories in media outlets;
  9. Pitch interviews with Staff and guests to media outlets;
