Increasingly, IRC programs also serve small business owners and others seeking economic empowerment services in San Diego.
What is AmeriCorps: AmeriCorps is a voluntary civil society program supported by the U.S. federal government, foundations, corporations, and other donors by engaging adults in public service work, with a goal of helping others and meeting critical needs in the community. "The program is often seen as the domestic Peace Corps.”
Members commit to full-time positions of completing 1700 hours during a 11-month contract.

Job Overview:
The LISC AmeriCorps Financial Coach will support the IRC’s Individual Development Assets “IDA” Project and Financial Education Programs through calling clients and provide the initial screening and eligibility checking to see if the clients are eligible in IDA or not. Also, will leading the financial education trainings and workshops, conducting individual assessments to measure financial capability, case management, and data entry. The LISC AmeriCorps Financial Coach will also play an active role in providing access to consumer loans to IRC clients through IRC’s Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI).

Major Responsibilities:
The LISC AmeriCorps Financial Coach Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Call clients and manage the Waiting List for IDA.
· Assist IDA project coordinators with outreach efforts.
· Assist in coordinating the IDA orientation.
· Provide individualized financial counseling sessions (including both initial and follow-up sessions) and achieve client outcomes.
· Provide Financial Literacy workshop ensuring that all training requirements are met for participants in budgeting, cash management, savings, and credit building in budgeting, banking, and credit,
· Attend regularly scheduled meetings with other IRC staff, volunteers, and program partners as part of the review, evaluation, and program maintenance process.
· Increase participant knowledge of financial services and credit offerings.
· Satisfy recordkeeping and reporting requirements.
· Follow all programmatic, contractual, donor requirements and IRC standards of practice.
· Use personal, insured vehicle and/or public transportation (where available) to travel and transport clients and materials as needed throughout the service delivery area.
· May train and lead the activities of volunteers and interns.
