Mission and objectives

The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme contributes to peace and development through volunteerism worldwide. We work with partners to integrate qualified, highly motivated and well supported UN Volunteers into development programming and promote the value and global recognition of volunteerism. UNV is administered by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and reports to the UNDP/UNFPA/UNOPS Executive Board. Context

The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme contributes to sustainable human development through volunteerism worldwide. Online volunteering allows organizations and volunteers to team up to address sustainable development challenges - from anywhere in the world and from any device. This digital volunteering also enables persons with disability to collaborate and dedicate their expertise with UN agencies, CSOs and public institution. With the increasing number of persons with disability participate in advancing the SDGs as online volunteers, the UNV Regional Office in Asia and the Pacific (ROAP) intends to create an inclusive digital workspace. To that end, the UNV ROAP is seeking the support of Online Volunteers in developing the draft and designing the e-brochure that will guide entities in creating accessible document or content when collaborating with online volunteers who are persons with disability. At the end of the assignment, the online volunteers will be rewarded with certificate and will gain better understanding on the contribution of inclusive volunteerism through various spectrum to the SDGs.

Task description

We are looking for 2 Online Volunteers with strong interest in disability inclusion, volunteerism and inclusive digital working space and expertise in inclusive communication and graphic design, particularly related to persons with disability. In close collaboration with the focal point from UNV Regional Office of Asia and the Pacific, each of the Online Volunteers will be assigned with one of the following tasks based on their background of expertise: - Compile and develop draft guideline/text on how to create accessible documents for Word, PPT, Excel, PDF - Design the e-brochure for guidance on how to develop accessible document for Word, PPT, Excel, PDF based on the UN’s Disability-Inclusive Communications Guidelines The reference material for the draft and the disability-inclusive communication guideline will be provided at the beginning of the assignment. Further guidance on the above tasks and workflow will be provided at the beginning of and during the assignment through call via Zoom/Microsoft Teams and emails (or WhatsApp group), as needed.
