BACKGROUND:

The IRC is committed to freedom, human dignity, and self-reliance. This commitment is reflected in well-planned resettlement assistance, global emergency relief, rehabilitation, and advocacy for refugees. Founded in 1933, the IRC is a global leader in emergency relief, rehabilitation, protection of human rights, post-conflict development, resettlement services and advocacy for those uprooted or affected by conflict and oppression. The resettlement office in Salt Lake City provides services to approximately 535 newly arriving refugees per year.

SCOPE OF WORK:

Refugee and immigrant women are at risk of violence throughout migration – at home, in armed conflict, during flight and displacement, in cities and camps where they seek refuge, and after they arrive to the United States.

Through the Bridge to Safety Program, the IRC is strengthening our capacity to respond to violence against women in US Programs so that refugee and immigrant women survivors of domestic and sexual violence can connect and engage with resources for support and healing.

The Bridge to Safety project moves towards this goal through the implementation of activities focused on (a) prioritizing and responding to violence against women in-house, as well as (b) leveraging partnerships to meet survivors’ comprehensive needs.

• Support the B2S team with program implementation which includes tracking and maintaining information on screenings and assessments, and file management

• Assisting with referrals and connecting to community services and resources

• Assisting with community partnerships and communication with partners

• Assisting with files, case notes, data entry, participation in B2S staffing meetings

• Internship training includes shadowing Bridge to Safety team lead for two-weeks at start of internship on new arrival services and completing online DV training modules
