Under the supervision of the Chief Field Office Deir-Ez-Zor, the Education Officer provides professional technical, operational and administrative assistance throughout the programming process for education programmes/projects within the Country Programme from development planning to delivery of results, preparing, executing, managing and implementing a variety of technical and administrative programme tasks to facilitate programme development, implementation, programme progress monitoring, evaluating and reporting.

After years of conflict, the Syria crisis continues to have a huge impact on children inside Syria, across the region, and beyond. UNICEF and its partners are on the ground in Syria and the region, working to protect children, help them cope with the impact of conflict, and resume their childhoods. The Education Officer GJP is to be used in Deir-Ez-Zor where the Education Programme is a component of the Country Programme (or UNDAF). The Education Officer reports to the Chief Field Office Deir-Ez-Zor who is at Level 3.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Education:

  • A university degree in one of the following fields is required: education, psychology, sociology, or any relevant field.

Work Experience:

  • A minimum of two years of professional experience in programme planning, management is required.
  • Relevant experience in a UN system agency or organization is considered as an asset.
  • Programme cycle management, programme coordination, project management, or project coordination experience is as asset.
  • Relevant experience in education context of Deir-Ez-Zor is an asset.
  • Experience in Education in Emergency is an asset.

Language Proficiency: Fluency in English and Arabic is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) is an asset.
