ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

The WFP Technology Division (TEC) is the nervous system of WFP, connecting staff with each other and with our beneficiaries, donors and partners. Running all vital IT systems, TEC serves as the main driver for continuity of operations, efficiency gains and innovations that empower staff globally to effectively implement the Strategic Plan.

 

The position is based in Rome, HQ and reports to CIO & Director, Technology Division.

 

The COSMOS project launched by the organization aims to optimize and simplify the country office support model, which includes corporate change initiatives and coordination of people, processes, and resources to ensure timely delivery of IT projects.  The Strategic Business Operations Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring the project's success by tracking progress against KPIs and delivering global reporting solutions.

 

 

JOB PURPOSE:

 

This position will be leading the planning, coordination, and execution of deliverables in the Technology Division, working collaboratively with the project's TEC Functional Lead. The Strategic Business Operations Coordinator will also oversee TEC Cosmos risk management to minimize project risks that could impede the implementation of the strategy and assist with the definition and implementation of controls to mitigate them.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

 

 

  • Strategically advice the CIO & Director, Technology Division on priorities, divisional programmes and initiatives supporting a transformational change management process deriving from Cosmos project ;
  • Developing project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders, and ensuring technical feasibility
  • Establish continuous liaison and collaboration with internal and external counterparts to ensure effective relationships, monitor ongoing projects and highlight potential risks to project delivery; 
  • identify potential risks associated with a project and then develop strategies to mitigate those risks. 
  • Planning and coordinating all the project’s activities to ensure completion by agreed timelines.
  • Working closely with various stakeholders, including the division’s communications team, to define and execute a communication and change management plan.
  • Tracking the project results against defined KPIs to report on progress and level of success.
  • Consistent track record of developing reporting strategy and delivering global reporting solutions. 
  • Proactively make suggestions for improving our operating model and internal processes and practices.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND KEY REQUIREMENTS

 

EDUCATION:

  • University degree in a, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Information Technology, Business Administration or other relevant field, or First University degree with additional years

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • At least 5 years of professional working experience in programme management, project management and strategic advisory support to senior management.

 

LANGUAGE:

  • Fluency (level C) in English language. 
  • Intermediate knowledge (level B) of a second official UN language: Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish, and/or Portuguese (a WFP working language).

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

 

A Limited Fixed-Term Appointment (LFT) position is a non-mobile staff appointment in the international professional category for a limited period of up to 2 years. 
WFP offers an attractive compensation and benefits package in line with ICSC standards (http://icsc.un.org) including basic salary, post adjustment, relocation entitlement, visa, travel and shipment allowances, 30 days’ annual leave, home leave, an education grant for dependent children, a pension plan, and medical insurance.
The selected candidates will be required to relocate to Rome, Italy to take up this assignment.
