How can you make a difference?

The position will assist the ICT section in providing ICT support to staff by maintaining hardware configuration and setup using UNICEF standard software and allow on-boarding staff to use computing resources and organize their data on computers and on the cloud. This also applies to off-boarding users.  It is meant also to assist with maintaining ICT asset stock and accessories, as to provide the necessary tools for staff to undertake their function. The position will also avail support for disposing office laptops using standard cleansing tools. Office access control system and radios programming will also be covered by this position.

  • Assist in providing 1st line support to users in Beirut and the field: receiving and acting upon ICT support calls via: Helpdesk system, e-mails, in- person visits, reaching by phone, Teams Instant Messaging, WhatsApp and any other reach-out way.
  • Maintain ICT support service calls on Service Gateway, by logging, following- up and closing calls: managing Service Gateway and responding for calls (escalation, assignment, following up and resolving).
  • Check, set-up and support internal meetings in 13 conference rooms, including multipurpose hall: all conference rooms at Service in CO are ready for upholding meeting in the best performance. Regular visits are undertaken, and support is provided for smooth-running electronic meetings, including new GF space with mobile Conference-in-a-rack solution.
  • Deal with inclusion portfolio (ICT facilities for the disabled) documentation and guidance: services, documentation and solutions are made available for the management to reinforce inclusion portfolio, based on global guidelines, under the supervision of the ICT specialist.
  • Assist with configuring laptops, migrating data, and setting-up user accounts for new users, and in decommissioning computers and data for users leaving or being transferred from the office: laptops are setup/configured and ready to be used by staff. Data is stored on OneDrive and synced to local computer, for on-boarding, off- boarding and staff replacing their laptops.
  • Program and update VHF radios for all UNICEF users: radios are made ready for use by all users in UNICEF offices.
  • Maintain Access Control to UNICEF premises: access to office premises is maintained, monitored and reports generated. Access cards are programmed, and names maintained in database, in line with Security requirements.
  • Maintain ICT assets and accessories in 3 locations and maintain a log Output: IT assets are checked and maintained; a balance sheet for accessories is regularly updated.
  • Undertake data maintenance support for on/off-boarding users Output: ICT Services for boarding users are provided, while informing users about Data management ways, and guidance for future reference, including staff who are transferring to other duty stations.
  • Hold ICT support, helpdesk, and asset management portfolio for the ICT section in the absence of the ICT associate.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Education: Completion of Secondary education is required, supplemented with formal training (at university level) in Computer Science, Information Systems, Telecommunications, Engineering.
  • Computer literacy and advanced ability to effectively use standard office software, tools, and technologies.
  • Experience: Five years of practical work experience in information technology, requiring systematic methods of troubleshooting and problem solving is required.
  • Experience in providing assistance to users on IT products and services and use of Office applications and troubleshooting skills is required.
  • Practical experience in providing technical and business Customer Support and Services is required.
  • Practical experience on setting up laptops with standard configurations, and data maintenance is required.
  • Practical experience and working knowledge of ICT Inventory systems, ICT stock management, Advanced Excel, ICT Case management systems, Conference facilities setup, Adequate English writing skills, Multimedia and content broadcasting, Excellent command of English, Communication skills, experience with inclusion modalities and solutions (ICT facilities for the disabled).
  • Language Requirements: Fluency in English and Arabic is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) is an asset.
