Last
year, the IRC Wichita partnered with Small Business Administration (SBA) to
provide The Community Navigator Pilot Program (CNPP). CNPP is an American
Rescue Plan initiative designed to reduce barriers that underrepresented and
underserved entrepreneurs including women, natives, African/Americans, LBTBQ,
Asians, Veterans and the Disabled, often face in accessing the programs they
need to recover, grow, or start their businesses. The program will be the
‘boots on the ground’ that will connect small businesses to critical resources
and assistance, including financial assistance and access to capital;
contracting and procurement; marketing, operations, business development, and
exporting; industry-specific training.
The Small
Business Outreach Intern will work closely with the Small Business Counselor
and other relating staff to support Small Business Counselor, build awareness
on and recruit small business owners to expand or grow their businesses by
applying to SBA loans. This position assists the Community Navigator Pilot
Program (CNPP) of IRC in Wichita.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Minimum of 10-20 hours per week: to be completed during regular business hours, M-F 9 am –5pm; preference to those who can be here for full day (9-5) shifts;
- Preference for candidates that can offer a 6 month commitment; the final candidate will become an integral part of our team and be trained/mentored on several skill building responsibilities;
- Builds awareness on SBA loan programs around Wichita for eligible potential clients;
- Identifies and reaches out to Small Businesses/potential clients by visiting, meeting, and online communication;
- Assists SB Counselor with the planning and coordination of training sessions whether in person, or online;
- Identifies possible community partnerships and education opportunities with local businesses and organizations;
- Participates in meetings with potential clients;
- Flexible to work some nights and weekends as necessary;
- All other duties and miscellaneous activities as assigned.
