This role reports into the IRC’s Senior Vice President of People & Culture (P&C SVP) – which is comprised of three major functions: Human Resources, GEDI (Gender, Equality, Diversity, & Inclusion), and Safeguarding. The People & Culture (P&C) unit support 22,000 staff in over 40 countries to deliver on our strategic ambitions related to management, learning, values, and diversity. The P&C Department Manager is responsible for preparing and managing day-to-day activities required for running the P&C SVP’s wide portfolio, as well as strategic initiatives and high priority projects. The ideal candidate will provide support to the P&C SVP by preparing briefing materials, crafting writing requests for correspondence or other initiatives, liaising with key stakeholders internally and externally, partnering to improve knowledge management activities, and managing and evaluating inbound requests. Effective execution will require preparation for engagements, structured communication skills, and the ability to handle multiple priorities in collaboration with cross-functional colleagues. A critical part of the role is acting as a pro-active, visible leader among peers, providing visibility into and supporting the most strategic People & Culture efforts of the IRC.
Major Responsibilities:
• Assist with day-to-day support of the P&C SVP’s engagements and meetings including briefing materials and other written materials related to nonprofit strategic initiatives (Including for CEO and IRC Board of Directors).
• Evaluate and prioritize requests against the P&C SVP’s strategic priorities and proactively identify opportunities to increase the SVP’s efficiency and effectively.
• Serve as a liaison between the People & Culture unit and key partners and oversee follow ups through to completion. Ensure a cohesive department culture by designing, developing and implementing effective communication strategies and communicating regularly with executive staff.
• Conceptualize and coordinate international travel as needed, including program meetings, flight, accommodation, visa application, ground transportation.
• Maintain ongoing knowledge of key department strategies and initiatives to brief the P&C SVP each week and write organization-wide communications.
• Review and submit expense reports, purchase orders, contract payments and other finance transactions for approval. Support department-wide rollout of systems and processes related to expensing.

Job Requirements:
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Work Experience:
• Minimum 3 years of full-time professional work experience, with at least 2 years of experience working at a complex organization and/or with senior stakeholders
Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:
• Passion for IRC’s Mission and People & Culture: Demonstrated interest in the humanitarian sector and the IRC’s mission. Demonstrated interest in Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion; Human Resources; and/or Safeguarding
• Structured Communication Skills: Ability to communicate and collaborate with tact and diplomacy, both orally and in writing
• Prioritization and Organization: Ability to organize, plan, schedule, determine/balance priorities and meet deadlines, with high attention to detail.
• Interpersonal skills & Executive Presence: Ability to engage diverse stakeholders, build long-term relationships, and create a collaborative and inclusive environment, especially when working across departments or time sensitivity
• Problem Solving: Ability to take initiative, function independently and navigate ambiguity
• Service-orientation and flexibility: dedication to help and support in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment
• Learning Mindset: Strong computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook. Adept at learning new technology platforms.
Language Skills:
• English (fluent); French, Spanish, or Arabic is a plus
Working Environment:
• Must be able to work on-site in NYC office (vaccination required) This role requires working remotely part time (i.e., telecommuting). Applicants will need a home or alternate workspace where they can effectively complete their work during regularly scheduled hours. Candidate will be expected to work onsite Tuesdays – Thursdays, in addition to occasional Mondays and Fridays.

Compensation:
Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
