DSS is seeking a Web Platform Training consultant for the development of online training products, and the delivery of key communications pieces, the deliverables resulting from this assignment will be instrumental in ensuring UNICEF’s large and globally distributed user base is trained and supported to use the enterprise web platform to publish high quality content that is critical to their communications work.

Within the Division of Global Communication and Advocacy (GCA), the Digital Strategy Section (DSS) manages all global digital channels and digital communications for UNICEF, including unicef.org in 5 UN languages, global social media channels, and digital multimedia content creation.
The Section is also responsible for the build, management and maintenance of global website properties, as well as providing support to Country, Regional and HQ Offices to maximise their use of global web platforms in their communications activities.

Through the development of online training products, and the delivery of key communications pieces, the deliverables resulting from this assignment will be instrumental in ensuring UNICEF’s large and globally distributed user base is trained and supported to use the enterprise web platform to publish high quality content that is critical to their communications work.
Expected results
Under the supervision of the Field Support and Web Builds Lead, the consultant will be responsible for the following throughout this 16-month contract:
- Plan and produce e-courses and other resources to provide training on UNICEF’s Drupal CMS:
- Plan and produce one e-course for using advanced Drupal platform features, including development of e-course script, recording voiceover, sourcing imagery and production in either Articulate Rise or Articulate Storyline.
- Make two existing e-course/s (Drupal Basics and Drupal Evergreen) modular so that the content can be reused, by breaking single course file into modules; prepare files and upload to enterprise learning management system.
- Re-produce one existing e-course module (for building a Document page) in a new format, using Articulate Storyline, for use in an existing e-course.
- Plan and produce one Drupal e-course for users of the Partnership Announcement template, including development of e-course script, recording voiceover, sourcing imagery and production in either Articulate Rise or Articulate Storyline.
- Plan and produce Storytelling with Drupal e-course, including development of e-course script, recording voiceover, sourcing imagery and production in either Articulate Rise or Articulate Storyline.
- Periodically perform an audit of five existing Drupal training e-courses, and identify required updates to reflect newly introduced or updated platform functionality (up to 6 times during contract)
- Develop and distribute key communication and capacity building products to Drupal user base
- Draft, build and send six bi-monthly email newsletters to Drupal users, to share training content, information on new features and how to use them, and other available engaging content (up to 6 email newsletters throughout contract). Plan and produce short instructional screencast videos as needed, to introduce new Drupal features to the user base
- Co-develop and co-deliver four 45-60 minute quarterly webinars providing information on new or updated Drupal platform features, and/or capacity building content, to Drupal users.
- Plan and deliver a live training session to new or existing Drupal users as needed (up to 8 times during contract)
Reporting requirements
All deliverables should be presented to the contract supervisor for review and approval by a mutually agreed-upon date (established at contract commencement). Specific deliverables, as indicated, will require review by other subject matter experts (SMEs), to be defined by the contract supervisor at commencement of work on the respective deliverable. These SMEs, and the contract supervisor, will be given the opportunity to provide up to two rounds of feedback to be incorporated into the final deliverable.

Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in communication, digital communication, learning/instructional design, business, or another closely related field
Work experience:
- At least 3 years’ experience developing and delivering learning/training resources and initiatives for users of technology, including delivery of live training
- At least 2 years’ experience planning/designing and producing online e-courses or other digital learning products to meet specific training objectives (applicants should provide links or attachments of work examples)
- At least 2 years’ experience completing advanced web content production, training or technical support using Drupal 9 or 10 content management system (CMS)
- Demonstrated experience using Articulate 360 Rise and Storyline to produce training e-courses
- Demonstrated experience producing written and video/screenshare content with voiceover
Language:
- Fluency in English is required

- Demonstrated strong communication, presentation and writing skills are essential – a clear, concise, compelling writing style, which is adaptable for difference audiences and publishing contexts (verbal presentation, voiceover script, professional communications)
- Strong verbal communication skills, interpreting and condensing complex technical language for a non-technical audience

Assessment Criteria (applications will be evaluated based on the following criteria):

Each Proposal will be evaluated against a weight allocation of 80% for the technical proposals and 20% for the commercial proposal. The total maximum obtainable is 100 points. The minimum acceptable technical score is 50.

Requests for services under an individual contract requires that the consultant indicates their all-inclusive fees (including lump sum travel and subsistence costs, as applicable) for the services to be provided. When submitting their bid, the consultant is also advised to take into consideration as part of their bid for the assignment the cost of health insurance and/or photographic, video-graphic equipment if such equipment is needed to complete the deliverables of the assignment.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.
The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. With the exception of the US Citizens, G4 Visa and Green Card holders, should the selected candidate and his/her household members reside in the United States under a different visa, the consultant and his/her household members are required to change their visa status to G4, and the consultant’s household members (spouse) will require an Employment Authorization Card (EAD) to be able to work, even if he/she was authorized to work under the visa held prior to switching to G4.
IMPORTANT – G4 Visa is only valid if the consultant will reside within the tri-state area during the duration of the assignment. It is illegal to apply and obtain a visa for consultants who do not intend to reside within the tri-state area during the duration of the consultancy assignment.
