Job Overview:

IRC-Sea will partner with Harborview Medical Center (HMC), Health Point (a federally qualified health clinic), and the Muslim Association of Puget Sound Muslim Community Resource Center (MAPS- MCRC) to coordinate and integrate services so that primary and secondary Afghan survivors of combat across the lifespan have access to and engagement with holistic, culturally responsive, trauma-informed and strength-based supports. This is a three-year program with the fund we received from the Office of Refugee Resettlement. IRC-Sea and its partners will leverage its existing holistic services to effectively serve newly arrived Afghans eligible under the Afghan Supplemental Appropriations Act who are primary and secondary survivors of combat so that they may overcome any severe, pervasive, and long-lasting combat-related trauma and achieve sustained physical, social, emotional, and economic well-being.
The primary role of the Caseworker is to provide comprehensive, trauma-informed and culturally appropriate, client-centered case management services for program participants, including completing eligibility screening and enrollment paperwork, developing service plans, educating about community services, resources, and helping problem solve barriers to access. The Caseworker is also responsible for assisting with administrative tasks including case notes, case file management, and data collection. 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive case management services to Survivors of Combat.
  • Provide tailored comprehensive case management and advocacy support, including assistance with: connecting clients to community resources to address varied needs including medical, social, economic, employment
  • Conduct follow-up assessments and monitor client progress and developing needs and circumstances
    In collaboration with clients, complete intake assessments and develop individualized intervention plans in order to facilitate clients’ increased access to social services and resources
  • Support the provision of psychoeducational groups, educational workshops and peer-led support groups to offer trauma-informed and culturally appropriate services
  • Conduct outreach to case management staff, immigrant-serving agencies, community-based organizations, and others to inform service providers and potential clients of programs and services.
  • Complete eligibility screenings for all referral and enrollment paperwork for all eligible Program participants.
  • Provide comprehensive case management services, including assisting with benefits applications as appropriate.
  • Guide/assist participants to establish contact and receive support services in the community based on their service plan.
  • Ensure all services are linguistically appropriate and help advocate with mainstream service providers for linguistically appropriate services.
  • Complete case notes in a detailed and timely fashion.
  • Implement client satisfaction surveys and client progress surveys at intervals outlined in the grant proposal.
  • Ensure all family data is entered into data management system in a timely manner.
  • Assist with the preparation of donor funding reports and new funding proposals.
  • Assist with advocacy efforts and participate in meetings and activities associated with the funder
  • Participate in program meetings and staff development activities.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
