The International Potato Center (CIP) is seeking a dynamic Agronomist as Senior Research Associate to support the implementation of CGIAR Initiave “TAFSSA: Transforming Agri-Food Systems in South Asia” in Nalanda, Bihar, India.

Based on the experience, skills, and performance during the interview, any of the two positions can be offered.

About the role: The successful candidate will lead and conduct the project’s implementation plan to contribute with research publications. The candidate will work with interdisciplinary science teams at CIP’s regional office in New Delhi, India and headquarters in Lima, Peru. This position will be based in Nalanda, Bihar, India and will report to the Regional Director for Research. Key responsibilities:

• Supervise a team of researchers and technician who execute a project to guarantee its correct development and outcomes. • Produce scientific papers to be submitted and published to contribute with the dissemination and knowledge of the research project.

• Provide oversight and guidance to researchers to contribute with their professional develop and research projects deliverers. • Advise and provide feedback to the projects activities to achieve the results expected.

• Facilitate and provide relevant information about the available resources to support the research project. • Develop policy analysis, research and evaluation plans to guarantee the researchers and technicians have a protocol to follow while doing the experiment.

• Develop experiment trials to guarantee the proper development of the research experiment.

• Comply with applicable health and safety CIP policies and procedures.

What are we looking for?

• Master’s degree in Agronomy or any other Plant Science.

• Strong experience of at least 6-8+ years in field work preferably on rice-based system.

• Understanding of cropping systems in Bihar.

• Expertise in experimental design related to field agronomy, data collection, analysis, etc.

• Demonstrated ability to coordinate tasks to meet deadlines.

• Experience of coordinating and technical reporting.

• Good record of scientific and technical publications.

• Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective work relationships with counterparts.

• Good interpersonal skills; ability to work in a multi-cultural environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity. • Strong understanding of integrating gender and other social equity considerations into project design and delivery. • Ability to organize work and write in a clear and concise manner and to communicate effectively orally. • Willing to be based in Bihar and travel whenever required.

• Advanced written and oral communication skills in English and fluent in Hindi.
