Caritas Ukraine, in cooperation with Caritas Germany, has successfully implemented emergency projects and is now working on further measures to provide assistance to millions of people who have been forced to leave their homes as a result of the fighting in eastern Ukraine. Caritas Ukraine needs staff support to communicate and coordinate all the actors involved.

It is one of the largest non-governmental welfare organizations in the country, with headquarters in Kiev and additional offices in Lviv and Dnipro. The project work is carried out through a structure of more than 30 regional Caritas associations and includes the work areas of home nursing, children and youth work, work with people with disabilities, humanitarian aid for displaced persons as well as for people in the war zone.

Planned location for the assignment, in coordination with Caritas Ukraine, is Lviv with regular visits to Kiev and other project sites depending on the security situation.

AGIAMONDO on behalf of Caritas Germany is looking for a Humanitarian Aid Specialist (m/f/x)

Your tasks:

  • You will support Caritas Ukraine project coordinators in the implementation of ongoing emergency and social projects (project planning, applications, reports, etc.).
  • You will assist in the application process for future relief or continuation projects by reviewing and evaluating applications (emergency relief, rehabilitation, and specialized social work projects).
  • You will advise and support Caritas Ukraine in the implementation of projects, taking into account the content and administrative requirements of the third-party funders or Caritas international.
  • In particular, you will ensure the monitoring of the content of ongoing aid programs in compliance with Caritas Germany standards. You will advise Caritas Ukraine with the aim of taking over these monitoring tasks into local responsibility.
  • You will design and conduct training events for Ukrainian colleague to ensure compliance with Caritas international and its institutional donors.

Your profile:

  • You have a degree in a DC-relevant subject and have professional experience or in-depth knowledge in the field of humanitarian aid and project management, ideally acquired in a church context.
  • You have experience and in-depth knowledge of project management. You know how to use your diplomatic skills in a target-oriented way when communicating donor conditions to partners, as well as the requirements of Caritas Germany.
  • You use your communication and consulting skills in a culturally sensitive way and already have some experience in supporting local partner organizations.
  • You are physically and mentally resilient and willing to travel extensively, if necessary also to the conflict area.
  • You identify with the goals and contents of Caritas Germany and are actively willing to learn about them and make them your own.
  • You communicate fluently in written and oral German and English, knowledge of Russian and Ukrainian would be an advantage.
  • You are an EU or Swiss citizen and belong to a Christian church.
