Summary and Background
 
Room to Read India was established in 2003 and presently has programs in twelve states – Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Delhi NCR, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Telangana, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh.
 
Room to Read is a global organization transforming the lives of millions of children in low-income communities by focusing on literacy and gender equality in education. Founded in 2000 on the belief that World Change Starts with Educated Children®, our innovative model focuses on deep, systemic transformation within schools during two time periods that are most critical in a child’s schooling: early primary school for literacy acquisition and secondary school for girls’ education. We work in collaboration with local communities, partner organizations, and governments to develop literacy skills and a habit of reading among primary school children and ensure girls can complete secondary school with the skills necessary to negotiate key life decisions. By focusing on the quality of education provided within the communi­ties and ensuring these outcomes are measured, we have created a model that can be replicated, localized, and sustained by governments. With its global headquarters in San Francisco, Room to Read has benefited 32 million children across 21 low-income countries.
 
Room to Read is?creating a series of?high-quality?videos under the She Creates Change campaign. These videos focus on real stories from our Girls’ Education Program that highlight?stories of girls who are part of our program, as they use the life skills that they have practiced through our interventions to overcome challenges and improve their lives and the ones of their communities. ?They will engage and inspire adolescent girls from different countries and backgrounds and introduce them to life skills that help girls thrive — like empathy,?perseverance,?and self-confidence. When girls learn these?skills,?they are better equipped to handle?life’s?challenges.
 
The campaign has a set of 6 videos from different countries, which are a combination of animation and live action films. The videos are being created in English and will be translated and dubbed into Hindi in 2023.
 
We are currently accepting proposals from production houses or agencies that can coordinate and record the Voice Overs and layover the videos with the Hindi Voice Overs and subtitles. The purpose of this Request for Proposal (RFP) is to solicit proposals from various candidates or organizations, conduct a fair and extensive evaluation based on criteria listed herein, and select the candidate who best represents the direction Room to Read wishes to go.
 
How to apply
 
Proposals will be accepted until May 21, 2023. Any proposals received after this date will not be considered.
 
Proposals must be sent to Procurement.India@roomtoread.org (without copying anyone from RtR).
 
Any incomplete application or process deviation, the proposals will automatically be rejected
 
The consultant/vendor/agency should include the following in their proposals:
 
Subject: Technical Proposal: Contextualize the ‘She Creates Change’ Videos
  • A technical proposal must outline the way this assignment will be approached.
  • The proposal must mention the timeline for completing the deliverables.
  • The technical proposal should include an outline of content and your approach for all the above-mentioned deliverables. 
  • Cite relevant work experience and give samples.
ONLY SHORTLISTED CONSULTANT/VENDOR/AGENCY WILL BE CONTACTED TO SHARE FINANCIALS
 
Proposal received after the prescribed deadline will not be considered.
 
Scope of Work
 
These videos being developed in English are a combination of animations; between 3-3:30 minutes each and live action videos which will vary from 5-7 minutes each. The animation videos will be dubbed into Hindi and the live action will have subtitles translated into Hindi. The scope of this project entails two parts:
  • Coordinating the Hindi Voice Over casting and recording
  • Replacing the English Voice Overs and subtitles for the 5 videos (videos provided by Room to Read)
  • Developing Hindi translations for all videos based on the English subtitles provided by Room to Read
  • Identifying different Voice Over artists for casting in each video
  • VO recording coordination and recording
  • Final video edits/mastering with VO and subtitles in Hindi
Details for the project are as below:
 
Animation Videos-
  • 5 animation videos which require dubbing into Hindi.
  • Duration: 3-3:30 minutes each.
  • Replacing, editing and layover of Hindi voice over in the animation.
  • The production agency is expected to manage the coordination and recording of Vos. The talent for Voice Overs will also be organized by the production agency unless Room to Read has suggestions on this.  
  • This quote allows for translation, recording and dubbing into Hindi.
Live Action films-
  • 5 live action films which require development of Hindi subtitles.
  • Duration: 5-7 minutes each.
Project Timeline and Requirements
 
The overall project must be completed by 10th November 2023.
 
The Selected Consultant/Vendor/Agency To submit the following upon project completion:
  • Rendered files with AIFF
  • Audio output versions- 2 channel balanced stereo output; 5.1 audio and 7.1 audio
  • All project files which are created in Adobe Premiere
