Background: The Indian Drug Users’ Forum (IDUF), established in 2009, is a national forum of people who use drugs (PUD) in India. Covering all regions of India, IDUF promotes meaningful involvement PUDs in policy and program development. We also play a key role in providing technical and capacity building support to state-level PUD networks, as well as in representing the PUD community in various national and international program and policy platforms. IDUF has its Secretariat at Kohima, Nagaland.

Position: We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic, and skilled individual for the position of Finance and Admin Officer. The position will be supported through the Key Population Grant from the Global Fund for AIDS, TB, and Malaria through Plan India as Principal Recipient.

Job description: The officer will be expected to produce the following deliverables, among others:
i) Ensure compliances to general accounting principles, preparation of cash book, ledgers with all supporting documents, with daily closures on the project funds, and other requirements such as petty cash, bank reconciliation statements.
ii) Ensure the financial statements and any other financial and administration documents are maintained in electronic and hard copies in the office and provided to the principal recipient on time.
iii) Ensure all financial and administration documents are in place for review by Principal recipient, local fund agent and for chartered accountant for auditing purposes
iv) Develop internal control procedures and ensure strict compliances.
v) Maintain highest standard of positive work atmosphere, work ethics and decorum.
vi) Provide any financial and administration documents to the IDUF Executive Board or people authorized by the same.

i) A 4-year degree or diploma in accounting, finance and/or book keeping,
ii) Minimum 7 year’ experience of managing finance and administration with external funding, working with auditors and donor agencies.
iii) Sound ability to work as a team and planning.
A history of drug use is not a must but experience of working with the community will be an added advantage.

Reports to: Program Manager

Location of the position: The position will be based in the IDUF Secretariat in Kohima. Travel to implementation sites may be required occasionally.

Duration of position: 1st June 2023 to 31 December 2023 (extension will depend on the successful completion of the first project period and subsequent continuation by the principal recipient).

Salary: Salary will be ceilinged at 50,000 INR (Fifty thousand Indian Rupees) per month. (Expected salary, skills, previous pay, and experience will be considered for the offered salary). Applicable income tax will be deducted at source.
