Result of Service

The contractor will deliver the following outputs:

• Progress report June 2023 (see tasks in Duties and Responsibilities section)
• Progress report July 2023 (see tasks in Duties and Responsibilities section)
• Progress report August 2023 (see tasks in Duties and Responsibilities section)

The resulting written materials (data tables and drafts) should be accurate, comprehensive, analytical and of high publishable quality. Compliance with set specifications and timely submission of the drafts and final documents/ web content for publication are very important.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the overall supervision of the P4 Illicit Synthetic Drugs Expert, the individual contractor will:

• Assist in finding, extracting and compiling information and technical data on illicit synthetic drugs and new psychoactive substances and related topics from the EWA and Toxicology databases as well as open-source media
• Assist in sorting, consolidating, extracting and processing data and scientific information on illicit synthetic drugs and new psychoactive substances and enter into relevant databases, in close collaboration with subject matter experts
• Assist in managing content and expanding the use of the EWA portal regarding issues related to user registration, user friendliness, and communication
• Assist in preparation of a variety of reports including EWA user statistics, background research, presentations, newsletters, EWA news clips, tables, lists, graphs, diagrams and social media content on illicit synthetic drugs and new psychoactive substances

Qualifications/special skills

• High school diploma is required
• A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in scientific research related to drug-related topics is required
• Experience in collecting and researching data across various areas related to drugs and drafting of related technical reports is required
• Experience with content management systems for Internet portals is required
• Organizational and analytical skills; computer literate, including excellent computer skills in spread sheets and data visualization is required
• Cultural sensitivity, sound professional judgment is required
• Sound advocacy, liaison skills and ability to interact and relate with people at any level is required

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of Spanish is an advantage
